Marijuana is illegal in 48 states, so why in the world would the NFL not test for it? And really, let them know ahead of time so they can detox? That kind of defeats the whole purpose of drug testing. Cry about the rules all you want, all he had to do was to stay clean, and he didn't. Now depending on what happens, he's in danger of losing millions of dollars and his career over a "little plant".
uhhh.. Lee and now Robinson pretty sure its a sign that he will be traded (hopefully not released) once he gets reinstated. Guess its time to change the name to Damnit Bortles
Quote:You say garbage but Pacman Jones got traded while he was suspended. Show me where it says a suspended player cannot be traded.
And you can cry all you want about the rules, but dems the rules, and the players agreed to them.
Yeah it's not Blackmon's fault for being an idiot and flushing his career down the toilet. No, it's the rules faults, yeah that's the ticket. The rules did it!
You keep making excuses for your man, huh. It's a vicious cycle.
Seriously dude, this isn't Pacman Jones. He isn't doing this because he feels better than everyone else. He is just a shy awkward country bumpkin that is having a hard time dealing with the fame and attention that is surrounding him. The world has crumbled around him and he hasn't figured out a proper way to deal with it.
He can't even have a tire blow out without people like you telling him how worthless he is. You act like his problems are just for fun. The dude is struggling with life. He is the type of person right now that puts a bullet in his brain.
Show a little compassion and quit thinking about yourself. There are things in life much more serious than your enjoyment of football.
I wouldn't be surprised if Blackmon is back by week 4.
This would be the NFL giving the Jaguars a bit of room to possibly deal him elsewhere.
I can't wait to see the look on Goodell's face when Blackmon is off suspension and suiting up in teal and black the next week.
I thought he was suspended for alcohol use again. As for the legality of weed its a non issue. Once players are in the substance abuse program I don't think they're even allowed alcohol at all.
I don't think its speculation. Two second round WRs and a GM who basically said Blackmon would be cut if they were allowed to.
Blackmon is done in Jacksonville.
I don't think he's done either. Caldwell is doing exactly what he said he'd do. Proceed like Blackmon's not here. IMO I believe he's reinstated this season(barring any setbacks). Another question. Why cut Blackmon? Why trade shorts or Blackmon? If Blackmon is clean and shorts resigns, we would have 4 legit WRs for Blake to throw to. In today's NFL you need that many. Not to mention we still would have Ace lined up everywhere.

Please. I'm sure poor little Justin is just a scared little lost puppy in a big old world. He's a grown man able to make his own decisions and the financial ability to do nearly anything he can imagine. Instead he wastes his money on "illegal substances" and puts others at risk by drinking and driving multiple times. Can't say I never have done this in the past but had I been caught I would have paid the consequences and either cleaned up or made the same mistake again. Don't take the blame off JB by making excuses for him. He's a big boy now and there's no plausible excuse for some of his actions.
Don't bogart that joint my friend. Once in trouble stays in trouble. Players like him just don't get it. But we can hope, but im not holding my breath for him. Time to move on.
As has been said, Dave can't afford not to plan as if Blackmon isn't going to get reinstated.
his job is based on producing a roster that will be competitive.
If or when that happens he'll deal with it.
In the mean time Gus and Dave have a railroad to run.
Choo-choo....the train is on the rails....don't miss it JB...MJD did.
Quote:Agreed. I think in the next CBA there is going to be some serious renegotiating in regards to league punishment as they are cheating people out of millions and ruining careers for something that is likely going to be fully recreationaly legal within the next 10 years. Criminal.
Given that it's already legal in some places, the NFL should just remove it from their list. Obviously, if you do it and get caught in a state where it's not legal, that brings you into trouble with the law (for now) and would still require NFL discipline. But they should just preemptively remove it from their restricted substances list and be done with it from a testing perspective.
But that's just my opinion, and for now if you know it's on their list and will cost you millions, you're an idiot if you can't control yourself.
Jags need to send him to a hardcore rehab until his suspension is over. I am speaking of an on premise, no outside contact, long term treatment. Sorta like a nice asylum. Tell him you either go for the next 6 months or you are gone and your career over in the NFL.
Quote:I don't think they will just cut him. That wouldn't make sense.
They may not be able to if he's not reinstated.
He may ride the remainder of it out suspended.

Blackmon is done in Jacksonville.
That's a wise way to look at it.
In no way does the below statement absolve unnacceptable behavior, however behavior has a foundation, a background that leads to it's outcome. So to simply say that your a grown man, straighten up and fly right or onto the trash heap with you is a simplistic and callous description.
A major assumption by some is that because you turn 21, graduate college or are drafted into the NFL you are a grown man.
Rookie symposiums are held for a reason, many of these YOUNG men are not adults and have come from college programs that
met every need and catered to many whims with boosters and staff. Age is not an indicator of ability to handle prominence thrusted upon some. The league is littered with remanents of damaged / destroyed lives during or after football because the lack of life experience or maturity. The folks ready to party or hang with a newly minted NFL Pro are legendary. It does not matter if you come from a dirt poor or affluent background. It the rookie is not grounded, then that ship is ready to set sail into dangerous waters. The Jaguars and the League have bent over backwards to help Justin, now he has to help himself, but it's obvious he needs a guide to help him on his road to recovery. It is all in his court if he chooses to leave the Safe Harbour of the Jags and League's good graces, he need's to turn around in the Jetty before open water. That s a tricky manouver even for experienced mariners.
The Jaguars would be overjoyed to have Justin in the fold, that group of receivers would offer every nightmare that DC's have to plan for.
I would love to see him back. The Jags have made plans for the future, with or without Blackmon. I pray that this lesson is ot lost.

If they want to cut ties then they should try and trade him for a conditional pick.
For example, offer him to any team for a 5th round pick and a conditional pick that can be anywhere from a 2nd to nothing. Depending on his on stats over the 2015 season.
I personally would try to rehab him myself before getting rid of him though.
i remember getting tons of criticism for my criticism of Blackmon being out very late in regards to the flat tire thing. And now we here things from Bradley that things don't sound to be going very well. My guess is they are hearing things about Blackmon being out, drinking and partying (total assumption). All I can say is I tried to tells you guyz.
Quote:That's a wise way to look at it.
The way I see it is they are hearing things.about him and don't believe he has changed so therefor are assuming the outcome will be the same. He is probably staying out late, partying, etc... Which means he hasn't learned and also means him getting in trouble again is inevitable. I mean Gus sounded almost sad. You don't sound that way if you don't know something. I think we are all hoping for a miracle, but at this point, that is exactly what it seems it'll take.
We can't give up on Blackmon! Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??? NO

Don't stop him, he's on a roll.
