Quote:I was starting to worry a little that they were going to get Clowney and either Manziel or Bridgewater. Glad they did not.

Hope they reach for Savage or Jimmy G

I was too. Minnesota came in very late in the 32nd pick time, too....made it all the better.

I was picturing all those Houston fans being pissed off.

I hope they don't get Savage or Jimmy G, they both could be good.

I want them getting Carr. Carr allegedly had the worst completion pct under duress of any of the top QB prospects in the draft.

I don't get the Garoppolo thing at all.
Jimmy G is an overhyped midget

Savage sucked in college

I think Jimmy G will be a bust.  Really hope we don't get him as a second QB.  I'd be happy to see the Texans take him.

From Matt Waldman:

Quote:

Granted, the quarterback (Garoppolo) opts for the standing variety as opposed to the full-blown, “put-my-thumb-in-my-mouth-and-read-me-a-bedtime-story,” fetal position. But even when Garoppolo realizes that he’s a beat away from a turf-nap and spins to his right, the initial frozen reaction affords the edge rush to reach the quarterback for the sack.

This isn’t an isolated play. These are three plays from the same quarter. I wish I could tell you this was a bad day from Garoppolo, but these are consistent tendencies in other games.
Would not shock me to see Jimmy G slip. Seems like a media darling.

In the end, there were two QBs in the draft.  One, a franchise candidate and the other a circus QB.

Ted was the king of the scrap heap, which will begin to be picked over further in the second.

With the Texans signing Fitzpatrick this offseason, I can understand their patience.  He's not special, but he's a stopgap that let them take who they felt was the best pick, while getting them back into the next tier QBs in the second.

The Texans will soon learn why Ryan Fritzpatrick is nicknamed Fritztragic.

didnt you post that in another thread earlier today? pretty much word for word?
Now it looks like Mallet won't be available for trade either.

Lol @ tinhorns
My favorite part of the 1st round is Vikings swooping up Bridgewater. If the Texans ended up with Clowney AND bridgewater? That would have sucked.

Yes, and?
Best bet is to take a flier on Savage or Logan Thomas.
Their offense is going to suck.  Ours may struggle this year, but that's just because we have a lot of young players on our offense.  They have Fitzpatrick, a sketchy O-line, a RB with too many miles on him, and Andre Johnson (who is getting up there in age).  They better hope their defense can dominate like crazy.

Midget? Isn't he like 6' 2" or 6' 3"??

My fav too. They even executed it great - towards the end of their alloted time. The Texan fans must have been pissed!!!
Patriots might not even trade Mallet. It all goes down to if they feel like Garoppolo could start games at any point in this season if Brady went down. If they don't then Mallet is staying in New England.

I'm still gonna say that Mallett goes to Houston at this point.

He's pretty much the best QB option now.
They'll have to give up picks next year for him unless NE are happy to let him go cheaply. They don't have a standard 4th round pick at all, infact they don't have a non-supplemental pick until round 6.

ahhhh thats right! Forgot about that.
Looking at it more, it's looking pretty bad for them as far as a QB goes. Fitzpatrick is average at best and has never done anything much as a starter, Keenum is trash (we all saw how much better they looked against us when Schaub came on in that game last year), Yates is trash and they don't have a pick until the end of the 4th and no real ammo to move up or trade for Mallet without giving up next years picks.

Some of the top teams will start plucking backups in the 4th and leave Houston with scraps.

I feel like the Jaguars have the second best offensive situation in the AFC South right now which is amazing considering how grim it looked just over a year ago.

I really don't see their need to press for a QB, after signing Fitzpatrick (for better or worse) and having Keenum with experience.  They might, but they don't have to "force" themselves into a pick or trade.

To be honest, McCarron isn't much different than Shaub when they came out.  Efficient and productive.  McCarron obviously doesn't have the prototypical size, but they are similar in other ways.  They may try to make a play for him.

But, all they have left are sixth and seventh rounders and pick in the bottom of the fourth, which could be used on say Logan Thomas.
