Quote:I think Barr has the look of a classic slider. He is a great athlete but is so raw. I think the Jaguars are looking for immediate starters. Impact players on day one. That's not Barr.
I agree he's raw, that's the beauty about the LEO position, you don't need a seasoned pass rusher to thrive in that spot. Chris Clemons was a nobody before he came to Seattle; Bruce Irvin was thought to be a reach by many, until everyone saw how explosive he was off the edge. The LEO position will hide certain deficiencies in a pass rusher, as long as that pass rusher is explosive (Barr is) with hip bend (Barr definitely has that)
Quote:Again, not gonna happen, we won't get 2 1st and a second.
You don't know that. The market will dictate the value for that pick. If they want to move up for a specific player, and they want him badly enough, you're going to see them coming off the picks to move up.
Trading down to 9 or 10 would be awesome. Manziel or Bridgewater will be there (I like both). With the extra picks, we can solidify our o line (Richburg) and WR (Matthews, Lee or BA).
Me likey

I'm not saying we will, but you can't rule it out either. If I had to guess, it would cost the Lions a 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
Quote:The Dolphins only gave their first and a second to Oakland last year for Dion Jordan (from #12 to #3).
The Lions won't give us their 2015 first, not gonna happen.
Every draft is different, and when you've got a team targeting a specific player, depending on how badly they want him, they may be willing to pony up whatever is necessary to get to a point where they can get him, especially when they're dealing with a team that would be quite content to simply draft the guy for themselves.
Odell Beckham and mike Evans are both going to be studs. Same with Anthony Barr. Barr fits our LEO perfectly. 23 sacks in two years as his first 2 years playing linebacker.
Quote:I think it depends upon what you want in the player.
If you want a good all around LB-take Mack.
I think if you want more of the pure pass rusher-take Barr.
Thing is, Mack is already a good pass rusher and working with Bradley/Wash etc will only improve him. Barr definitely has a ton of raw talent, and with this coaching staff he could get coached up, but Mack brings the whole package and is already a good pass rusher. Barr might end up being the better pass rusher in the long run, but is it by THAT much? IDK.

Barr is just so athletic, in the right system (like ours) he'd wreak havoc on offensive tackles, that type of athleticism is rare.

It's certainly possible, but I definitely don't see it as likely myself.
Finally people are jumping on my Barr train, have been praising him a month before the college season ended and saying the he should be the pick. The "too raw" stuff is way over blown he has played the position for a couple years now and became an elite LB in CFB so the sky is the limit for him.

Barr is raw but he will be a stud. The QB we draft most likely won't even be starting.

This. ^^^
Barr is a better fit for our team than averaged sized overhyped small school LB.

After
Clowney
Manziel
Watkins
Mack
Matthew
and Evans
I think there is a big drop off in talent, If we trade back we better get a ton of picks

I like the option if it's for their 1st, 2nd, late rounder, and next year's 1st or 2nd (dependent upon the late rounder). If Clowney and Watkins are there, it could be possible. However, there's no guarantee Manziel will be there; or Bridgewater. Moving down to 9 or 10, means letting Cleveland, Oakland, Tampa, and Minnesota take a stab at a QB. That's a lot of teams that could take either one of these QBs. I wouldn't count on either one being there if we drop.
GO JAGS!!
Quote:If the experts are right, he'll be there.
To be clear, you're not an expert.
wait... He's not?

Sounds like Barr is this year's Jason Pierre-Paul. Sign me up for that.

or Vernon Gholston
I love the idea of trading back as often as possible. This is one of the deepest drafts and the Jags obviously have multiple needs. Watkins may become a pro bowler, but he is not Megatron. The only guy I'd stay put for is Clowney and he will be the first pick. I sure hope St. Louis passes on Watkins.

I feel the same way.
I mean, theres obviously a point where you stop and finally pick, but I'd love the idea of several trade downs and stockpile extra draft choices.
