Smith yes should have been kept, Monroe too cuz Luke sucks

others were not that good

Malik has been solid

The issue with Julius Thomas is he is supposed to be this ex basketball player but he runs slower then M.Lewis

I see the Monroe as being a wash, with the benefit being the pick(s.)

Either way, we would have been replacing Joeckel/Monroe at LT anyway because he retired at the very same time Joeckel lost the job.

We would have stroked two checks - Monroe and Beachum, instead of a draft pick and a check as with Joeckel and Beachum.

In the end Beachum was the solution no matter how we got there.

looking at it that way seems like you are correct.  Regardless we were going to suffer through years of incompetence at the LT position
Quote:Bortles and Robinson were great last season and just need good coaching to be great again.
It was the same coaching staff last year, wasn't it?  What they need is better QB play and Robinson needs a better attitude.
Quote:He's spot on. You can argue all you want but he's right.

If this team had a bunch of pro bowlers being improperly utlized, then yea we have a coaching problem.

The roster remains chock full of bums. That's the problem. The problem is David Caldwell. The problem has always been David Caldwell.

The Eugene trade is a great example. And the wasted first round pick IS Luke Joekel. It's called opportunity cost. If we had kept Eugene Monroe, we wouldn't have to draft his replacement - we could have selected someone else.

What we got was:

Aaron Colvin, Chris Smith and Luke Joekel

Vs

Eugene Monroe + top five draft pick who isn't Luke Joekel

...

That's a no brainer.

It's not a no brainer. It doesn't even make sense. Joekel had already been drafted. How does not trading Monroe mean Caldwell would have had a different #2 overall pick?

Wonder if MJD is going to feel the same way about us firing Bradly now that its becoming clear he was the problem.

He's busy eating ice cream.

I have a few disagreements.

Mojo criticizes Caldwell for getting rid of quality players like Knighton, Daryl Smith, Eugene Monroe, and Greg Jones, and replacing them with players who weren't as good.  I can't argue with him on Smith and Monroe.    However, while Knighton was a very good player,  I think Marks was/is better, and he's still playing today. I love Greg Jones, but by the time Caldwell arrived, his career was basically finished.

Can't disagree with what he says about Bortles. It's pretty harsh.

I strongly disagree with the commentator who calls Dante Fowler a bust. The dude hasn't even played a full season yet! I live in Atlanta, and Falcons fans were saying the same thing about Vic Beasley last year.  Please, let's just see where the guy is next year before we call him a bust. Good pass rushers don't develop overnight.

Mojo seems to think Malik Jackson wasn't a good pick up. I strongly disagree with that. Curiously, he seems to have more praise for Gipson. I'm not very high on Tashun.

He singles out Julius Thomas. I know a lot of people on this board don't like Julius, but I do.  It was always unrealistic to expect him to catch 10 TDs in a season. That's easy when your quarterback is Peyton Manning. Bortles isn't Manning, obviously.  I think if you put Thomas on the Patriots, he probably catches 7+ TDs from Brady.  Let's see what Julius does with a better QB (here in Jax) before we toss him aside.

I would be interested in reading your comments.

he's right though...we got rid of Monroe for no value...and did NOT replace him. Luke is trash. I never understood why we got rid of Potroast. Dave Caldwell has been ruining us and I agree with MJD. Been saying it
