I thought this thread was going to be about the race to be the first QB off the boards...

Disappointed.

I thought the same at first.
Quote:how would the analysis be different on them?
For things such as Manziels supposed off-field problems,I think if he was black the backlash would have buried him alot deeper than it did.
Quote:Its hard to bring race into subjects such as this but I think some areas of the media do have a racial bias.

I just believe that the medias perception of the two prospects would be different if they were different colors.
can u tell us how u think each would be seen as a prospect if manziel was black and Teddy was white?

what off-field problems? Partying?
For the most part I don't think race has anything to do with it. Most of us are able to look past a persons skin color in today's world.

Cam Newton entered his offseason leading up to the draft as a 2nd round pick. The media fell in love with him almost immediately after his pro day. If you are good you'll get the love regardless of race.

Well personally I believe that a lot of the criticism of Bridgewater is about his physical attributes(Small hands, frame, arm strength, weight) Which is ridiculous,as someone stated earlier hes about the same size as Derek Carr but where have you seen anyone criticize Derek Carrs durability or weight?

Manziels obviously has amazing physical attributes but a lot of the analysis of him actually talks about how intelligent he is and how well he's able to read the game and other statements such as that which rve about the mental side of the game

Also the Manziel analysis is always about his amazing leadership qualities, which he has no doubt but Bridgewater has shown that too but it doesnt get mentioned near as much

He made a couple hand gestures one time that made Mike Mularkey turn in his grave. No wait, that was on the field. Never mind.
Quote:I don't think Bridgewater is overrated you see, imagine Manziel was black and Bridgewater was white,do you think the analysis of them would be different?

I think the honest answer is yes.

All I see is a Ted fan who's upset that he's not being hyped like Tebow or Manziel.  I believe anyone reasonable (fanboys need not apply) looks at the two and sees Manziel having much higher risk, but also higher potential reward at the same time.  He's a wildcard, and people recognize it.  Change the color scheme and nothing changes.

Honest question since we're talking bias.  Let's talk about other forms of bias and rankings.

Do you think Michael Sam's statements help, hurt, or do nothing at all to his draft status?  And, would it be the same for players at other positions on the field?

I never said he was? Ah predictable that you would jump straight to Winston, where did I mention him?

Quote:so what your saying is?
I thought we were talking about college players off field problems? What does Big Ben off field problems have to do with that?

Yeah if Micheal Sam was a kicker or punter it would be completely different too.
