Quote:I thought we were talking about college players off field problems? What does Big Ben off field problems have to do with that?
Because you were talking about winston raping a girl and not getting arrested, either did Big Ben?

Big Ben was in the nfl when he got in trouble, good try though. I dont think Ben ever had any off the field issues in college

Im a Gator fan look at my name lol. Talkin about off field problems just felt like it was a good time to bring him up. Manziel partying i dont really consider that a problem. Run ins with the law is a problem.
If anything, Manziel could be guilty of "affluence."

But as far as wealthy athletes go, all that means is that he's got a head start on his peers.  He was "going Gronk" in college, probably high school.

Contrast that with Ted, who his own mother nicknamed "Bobby Boucher"... well, I don't think race has a bit to do with their perceptions as young "adults."

Manziel clearly has an unpredictable "edge" to him, and Ted is the antithesis of that.  He comes off more as momma's boy.  A homebody.

Again, that's nothing that can be pinned on race whatsoever.

If Dave feels like Teddy can be a franchise qb then i will trust him. If we do draft him i just hope he sits most of the year and i think he could become a really good game manager
I don't care if they were orange & green. Everything points to Bridgewater being the better long term QB. However, Manziel has the personality and play to change the Jaguar Football culture for years. At the end of the day, this is a business that makes money. And Johnny Manziel is money.
To put it in perspective, I see Manziel as a lot like Sherman.  Confident to the point of cockiness, in your face, and feeds/thrives on being in the spotlight and on the biggest stage.

In contrast, I see Ted as a ...David Garrard maybe?  Quiet.  Doesn't seek the spotlight.  Pretty much the exact opposite.

One of those personalities can inspire the men around them, and command their attention... particularly veterans who have been around the block (see the Incognitos, etc. of the world and how a rookie in the huddle may or may not be able to stand up to them.)  The other is along for the ride, and takes a back seat by leading by example.  There's not necessarily anything wrong with that, since that's a lot like Daryl Smith, too.  But Daryl Smith didn't play quarterback.  You do look for more from someone expected to be taken at the top of the draft.

Both styles of leadership can work but I'm of the same mind, I prefer Manziels fire to Bridgewaters poise

Bridgewater displays all the characteristics of the classic pocket passer (Intelligence, composure, accuracy)

Manziel displays all the characteristics of the classic scrambler (Improvisation, agility, speed)

The classic pocket passer is usually white and ,obviously there are many exceptions and I'm not saying only a white person can be a pocket passer I'm just saying thats the perception of the type of Qb.

The classic scrambler is usually black, same as above of course there is exceptions but thats the generality of the type of Qb.

Is the fact that Bridgewater is black lead some of the media to discredit him as a Qb simply because he doesnt fit the generalization?? Similar with Manziel, are some of his flaws ignored by some of the media simply because he is white?

This is not a racially charged post at all its just an opinion that I have and I was wondering if others shared this view. This may be completely unfounded but it is what it is and its what I believe

This is my first post ,I'm from Ireland and have been a creeper on this forum for many years

Thank you

Let me save you some time. It's pointless to racism because people will just play dumb. I'm sure you've read some of the comments.

Let me put it this way. Travon Martin was stalked, harrassed and murdered. He was 17 and his killer wasn't even arrested or seriously questioned initially. He wa eventually found not guilty. He raised money for his defense and got more than anyone would get if they wanted to raise money to open a school or help feed and shelter children of a darker hue. With all of that said, if you were to ask flgatorsandjags if Travon was white and Zimmerman was black would the same thing have happened, he would still tell you yes. So don't get frustrated. It is what it is.

That's what happens when you invoke the truth. Teddy Bridgewater was considered the best quarterback in this since at least last off season. He was the consenus  topic QB until a pro-day or in other words "PRACTICE" (Allen Iverson voice). I read and listen to a lot of draft material. It just seemed strange to me how a guys draft stock dropped to 2nd round from the top of the first and he didn't play a lick of football. The Manzel ascension embarrassingly organized or organised for you cross-the-ponder. I thought to myself several times, "no ones gonna buy he's a top 5 or 10 pick, but never underestimate the power of subconscious denial.

Probably, a lot of people like to be a silent racist.

Teddy all the way!

No I wouldnt say yes because I dont know, and neither do you so quit making yourself look stupid. What does Zimmerman have to do with football? If you want to talk football look at OJ who killed his wife and boyfriend and got away with it. If you had any sense you would understand noone ever said racism doesnt exist we said Teddy being black has nothing to do with him falling in the draft. I dont think his stock ever fell that much it was mostly just hype at the beginning and the Florida game. It happens every year. If it was about race Newton, RG3, Akikili would of took a free fall like Teddy but for them it was opposite. They all shot up draft boards.
