My question is, two alumni are "leading the charge" in having the statue erected, but.. It states in the article that the community is ready to honor Joe Pa again. Would this really be a board decision? Did they take a poll that the community would be open to honor Joe Pa?

Really going out on a limb there - being against child rape and all. That's my point - those True Believer types, you know, the ones who know The Truth, regardless of what they really know, want others to think that if you are not in agreement with them then you must be the opposite.

 

It's a lazy position taken by many. The thought that some people want to recognize some of the positive actions taken by Paterno in a long and productive life is just not allowed. The True Believers will have it no other way than their Truth. And if you dare saying anything otherwise you shall be Smeared.

I'm sorry but I'm with you and may be the only one who is. People seem to forget that He reported it to 3 different people. Should he have done more? Of course, but to class him with Sandusky and make him out to be just as bad as everyone else in this situation is not right imo.

Paterno should have gone to the police. These are kids we're talking about. If you see or hear of a kid being molested, you should feel a moral obligation to report it to authorities. Paterno covered for a child molester, and his legacy is now that.

In my honest opinion, the decision to put up another statue of JoePa shouldn't be the community's or the university's. It should be the victims' final decision .. My 2 cents..
