If Albert showed up, he wouldn't be teaching Cam... rather, he'd be taking valuable reps at LT away from Cam.

But wouldn't that give him reps at another spot.

Sure, both no other spot is as valuable as LT.

Besides, he'll need the LT reps to compete with Albert in camp for the start.

Cam will not beat out Albert. Unless A Albert comes in out of shape. Or B he just doesn't care.

Never say never. It might just be a good battle.

Just no. A rookie will not beat a low season LT vet. Let alone a pro bowl one.
Quote:I agree! We should also consider throwing fans off with bad grammar, improper word usage, and spelling errors first though. Unfortunately for you, this would land you near the front of the line(massive upside by the way, major "INCENTIVE" to stop sucking at English). On average, this should also improve the fan base because only literate people will want to support the team. This plan would also improve our message board posts so I don't have to stare blankly at a post trying to figure out what on Earth I am reading or someone is trying to say... Or we can simply let people support the team the way they see fit, and leave our silly "playful" ideas involving murder to ourselves.
Yeah, that works too.
Thanks for the thoughtful advice. I made a drunk post from my phone while celebrating my birthday with a couple of my buddies at a bar. Between my phone's auto correct and my slight inebriation, I admit it became littered with horrible grammatical errors. But thanks to you, I now know that for the betterment of the franchise I should be thrown from a building for wasting your valuable time in a attempt to read my post. Thanks prick
Just 12 more days till Albert will be required to show up. Hope he's doing his jazzercise.

At this point will dude even put a 50% effort into playing for this team? No matter the outcome of a contract? I don't think so. I simply believe he is hoping to be released.

I read somewhere that they have at least made contact with each other at this point. But unfortunately it looks like we traded a useless tight end for a useless left tackle.

Branden Albert will be 33 before the end of the season.

Assuming Albert reports, there's no guarantee he won't show signs of decline, or there's no guarantee Cam won't be a star at LT or both.

Albert better be preparing for a camp battle because Cam wants to start. If Albert isn't far and away better at LT, we might have to start talking about what other positions Albert can play.

I'd like to try him at RT, but from what I've seen, Marrone seems fine with Parnell at RT.

If Robinson beats out Albert at LT, it wouldn't be a total shock to see the team cut Albert, though I have to think on some level the team would consider keeping him for depth.
If they cut him, are they on the hook for the 8.9 million?

Yes.  8.875

However - there is an "out clause" in his contract for 2018. The team can opt out. No cap hit on his last year.  (according to spotrac)

I would guess that ^ this is what he's trying to negotiate.

He knows he can show up here in two weeks and do what in takes to get his ~9 mil this year, but he's got nothing, zero guaranteed in 2018.

He probably wants to try to lock up something for next season since he knows his replacement is on the roster already.

Albert probably figures that without any future guarantees, why risk injury by showing up to voluntary stuff? The ironic thing with that train of thought is that more often injuries occur to players who hold out until camp as they're often not quite as fit. Albert, though, should know what he has to do to keep fit.

I'm sure I saw a video of Albert doing some heavy training recently, it might have been on instagram, I'll see if I can find it.
I hope he shows up
I don't think Albert is the kind of pro that's gonna show up out of shape. That being said, if he wants to keep playing hard ball, the jags can just eat the money and keep him on the roster until next year. I wouldn't do him any favors by cutting him this season.
If he is cut and then signed else where will that contracts value cancel/offset what the Jags have to pay him?
