I am impressed by what I see in Blake Bortles.

If we traded back I would be ok with it but would rather get Mike Evans

Fears pressure. Not to the extent of Gabby but it's there.

Ideal measurables, and like most with ideal measurables, will probably be a bit overdrafted.

 

IMO, the highest "floor" of the big 3, but maybe not as high a ceiling as Manziel.

 

Not sure he's top 10 material in my ridiculously amateur book, but should be among the first 2 QBs off the board.

 

Like all the QBs in this draft, a QB I'd sit at least a year in a perfect world.

 

Wouldn't bring the buzz or excitement of a Manziel selection, but a lot safer.

 

Best case - Big Ben sized Drew Brees?  Worst case - Josh Freeman?

He's the kinda guy that gets you fired, drafted because he has upside and size, he is way more raw then Carr, Teddy and Manziel. I wouldnt draft him until late 2nd round

And the other two get you fired because they don't and you should have known better.

 

The top of this QB crop is a minefield, and the patient will be rewarded later.

I'd be upset with him in the 3rd round honeslty.. he sucks and is getting pushed up on size alone.

His size alone is the reason he took UCF to a one loss season and won a Bowl game ?

He needs the most time on the bench of the big 4 (Bortles, Bridgewater, Carr, Manziel), and will be as wrecked as Gabbert if he's forced onto the field too early. I've tempered my enthusiasm for him as a result. He's got an opportunity to be a special player if a team brings him along slowly, but there are a lot of ifs in there. This QB class is a mess at the top, and Bortles is no exception.

Examine the origins of Bortles' rise. This is a year where the Gator-infested media lacks one of their patented cream puffs. UCF is right down the road.

Spare me the looks the-part-guy who played inferior competition and doesn't have top end game footage. Potential means he's not there yet.

If he falls in the 1st round, i would have no problem with a trade up to get him. I do think he could be a Big Ben QB. I think any QB we get needs to sit and learn and not be thrown into the fire as we did with during the Gabbert Error

You don't see many people willing to let highly drafted QBs sit a year.

 

How do you think each of these three guys would benefit by sitting a year?

 

For me, I think Manziel would benefit by learning to go through progressions more, staying in the pocket, mechanics, and overall maturity.

 

Bridgewater could spend a good year in an NFL weight program and add the weight that seems to have varied at different times, and further learn to read NFL defenses.

 

Bortles would benefit from learning to read defenses, look off safeties, and pocket presence.

Rather have Manziel then pick up Connor Shaw later.

You think?  I actually think he has the highest ceiling of the 3.  And Teddy has the highest floor.

 

Anyways, if Bortles had Mettenberger's or Savage's arm, I think he'd be the absolute, no question asked #1 draft player in the draft.

 

He has the ability to scramble outside the pocket and make plays with his feet, but unlike Manziel, he only does when he needs to.  Unlike Teddy, he has the size and strength to shake off a would be sack and extend plays.
