MJD still has it.. He will have a good season wherever he goes.  He';s fully healthy and has a whole offseason to prepare.  And MJD is better than Bell still right now.

Suggesting MJD is a better option at RB in 2014 than Le'Veon Bell is insane IMO.

I hate pittsburgh, I was hoping he would sign with the jets.

That's not what I meant I mean over todman
According to a tweet from Albert Breer:

"Free-agent RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who visited with Steelers today, will be back at the team's facility tomorrow. Could have a home there." @AlbertBreer

I kinda hope that MJD either comes back to the Jags or goes to a serious Super Bowl contender. Wherever he ends up, he deserves to be remembered fondly around Everbank.  Have you guys heard anything previously regarding him visiting or discussing a contract with any teams?  I’ve been keeping an eye out for news, but this is the first I’ve heard about Drew since free agency opened.

According to NFL.com Mjd will be back at Steelers facilities today.
this is his first visit.  It's odd being he's a guy that has said all along it's about getting paid but now he's looking at a team pretty much up against the salary cap.  I don't think free agency is turning out quite how he expected.

Just like his hold out.
If the nbc sports site is accurate, the steelers are just 2.2 mil under the salary cap.

Second worse cap left in the league behind the saints.
After injuries and age sure he's lost a little bit but dont let last two season's performance fool you.  He's still the best running back available in Free Agency.

I'm sure the show he puts on in Pittsburgh will draw attention from other teams too, if the Steelers think they can sign him cheap .. he wont go there.

Bad time to be a RB or to teach your son how to be a RB.

Someone said they should have their own union.
Please not the Steelers, anyone but the Steelers and Titans for MJD and I can be happy for him.  I wouldn't mind seeing him resigned here, and split carries with Gerhart and Robinson(don't think as much of Todman as some here, seems like just another guy to me).

Even so he's still washed up. It happens to us all, to RBs sooner than most.

This.
MJD leaves Pittsburgh without a contract.

I'm willing to bet he signs with the Jags for a relatively modest contract.  I think he needs to finish his career as a Jag, and I think he can possibly put one or two decent years together.

I don't think he cares about that. I kind of have the feeling we have just moved on from him. Would love to have him back though.

We may have moved on from him, but if that is the case, how he has handled things in the past could be a big reason.

His last holdout left me scratching my head.

Were on the same page bro
It's becoming more likely that MJD does return to the Jags when the dust settles.  It'll be interesting to see how much he'll be willing to take to continue his career.  His expectations of landing that last big deal appear to be evaporating pretty quickly.  I think the Jags could offer him a reasonable deal that will allow him to continue here.  Load it up with incentives and let's see how he responds.

I understood why he did it.  I just thought the holdout was pointless.  He was coming off a season where he was the rushing leader.  He felt that deserved some recognition.  It didn't happen.  He had no leverage because he was still being paid a top tier salary to play the position.  There was no reason for the team to buckle to his demands, and in the end, he wound up coming back under the existing contract.  The holdout was a business move.  It didn't work out the way he'd hoped.

I think he realized he'd hurt himself with the organization, and wanted to try to extend an olive branch.  The front office recognized that this was a business move on his part.  I doubt they held any resentment for the maneuver.  What it did do was send a message that Khan wasn't a pushover.  He wasn't going to cow tow to a player's demands if it wasn't the time to do so.

The reluctance to give him an extension, allowing him to go to free agency, had more to do with the team sensing that they'd let the market set his value, then decide if they were interested in bringing him back.  I still think they'd consider doing so if the money was right, and the longer he's out there, the more likely it is they get the bargain they're looking for.
