Quote:It's becoming more likely that MJD does return to the Jags when the dust settles.  It'll be interesting to see how much he'll be willing to take to continue his career.  His expectations of landing that last big deal appear to be evaporating pretty quickly.  I think the Jags could offer him a reasonable deal that will allow him to continue here.  Load it up with incentives and let's see how he responds.

Or just draft Tre Mason in the 3rd round and be done with it.

Cheaper, better & more upside than what you'd be getting from MoJo at this point of his career.

Or Sankey/Seastrunk in the 3rd/4th...lots of 3rd round or later RBs that provide better upside than MJD
I would love to keep mjd !

I was initially in this camp, in part because I figured with a rebuilt OL and a rookie QB likely under center, pass protection would be of utmost importance, and MJD excels in blitz pickup, even if he has lost a step over the years.  My thinking was that a rookie RB may not be adept enough to be trusted in blitz pickup, and that would simply add to the beating any rookie QB would take as our line learns each other and the rookie QB learns the league.

However, with Gerhardt, I think we have a back that can pound it between the tackles for decent yardage, as well as perform competently in pass protection.  Though sentimentality still makes me hope to some degree MJD would re-sign here, I now believe a rookie would be better here.
Quote:I hated Ryan Christopherson, what a waste.
He was supposed to be a Mike Alstott type back. He just could not hold on to the football.

Wasn't he cut after his rookie year?
Man... I really dont want him to become a Steeler...

Quote:We may have moved on from him, but if that is the case, how he has handled things in the past could be a big reason.

His last holdout left me scratching my head.

Can you blame him for wanting another deal given his current situation?

Like many things there's two sides but.....when his agent said he's looking for 3.5 million this year I think that just turned every other team against him.

The value just isn't there to them. Look at the RB list of unsigned, a team could have 2 or 3 of them for that money.

If he comes back I hope he plays with that old chip on his shoulder and shows the other teams what they passed on.

THEN in 2015 he can demand 3.5 and maybe get it.
I don't think he's coming back after this. He'll sign on the cheap elsewhere. He comes off as stubbron and prideful. I can't fault a man for that. I'd probably do the same. Once the dust settles, he's signing elsewhere. He would be a good fit in black and gold. He'd probably get dubbed "the mini-bus" within a few weeks playing there based on his style of play and physicalaity when it comes to contact.

I don't think anybody is against him.  They just tell him what they are willing to pay.
I would love to have MJD back, but what the Jaguars are willing to pay and what he wants are far, far apart.

I wish him the best of luck, bear no ill will at all for the holdout, it's nothing personal, it's business.

Would love to have a one day signing in the future so he retires as a Jaguar.

What he wants is quickly becoming irrelevant if nobody is willing to pay the price.

It'll be interesting to see if the Jaguars extend an offer his way after a little more time passes.  Another week or two and he'll be in the bargain bin, especially with the shrinking salary numbers running backs are landing right now.

It would be odd to see him brought back for significantly less than what we are paying Gerhart, but that's guaranteed IF they do re-sign him at this point.

The team could do both, and not break the bank.  MJD isn't getting a good dose of humble pie right now.
He reportedly is seeking 3.5M/yr. Good luck with that brah.

That's not even a lot lol.

That would be a ridiculous expectation. Ben Tate got that and he was the top rb on the market. Mjd is a little older. Just a smidgen

Lol it might be over paying but it isn't going to hurt the team at all paying that much money.

But you're giving a roster spot to a guy who just can't play. No one is giving that kind of money to Michael Turner or Steven Jackson this year either.
