Quote:AH! but Y'all forgot
1) Beaches Road Chicken Dinners on Atlantic Blvd (all the sides you can handle + 1/2 a chicken)
2) Peterbrooks Chocolate in San Marco (I Crave their chocolate covered strawberries)
I'm not sure that first one remains open for business. I think it shut down but I might be wrong.
The best beer in jax is at engine 15 on beach blvd down by the intercoastal. It's all craft beer on tap plus ~15 in-house brews on tap. My favorite is the Nut Sack brown ale or Rye of the Tiger.
Beach hut is the best breakfast if you don't mind a casual atmosphere.
HIGHLY RECCOMEND the green papaya on the northside. Yes, believe it or not, the best Thai food is on the friggin northside. Yes, it is even better than Simply Tasty.

Been a while since I've lived in Jax so........
Their website is still up......

Quote:Luigi's has the BEST Meatballs in town too. The place is a bit grimey but, the food is fantastic.
Yeah man, I've been eating at Luigi's since I was born basically, and I have never had anything bad from there, be it their pizza, lasagna, subs, spaghetti, everything is top notch imo. The place is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover, sure the place may not look great, which can be off putting to a lot of folks, but the food is outstanding.
Quote:Beach Diner's Godfather Sandwich is nice, anything at Angie's is good, as is anything at Blue Boy Sandwich shop on Norwood or University.
Damn you beat me to it. Best sandwich shop in Jax. You'll never eat a Subway sub again.

If Thai is your thang, the Green Papaya is outstanding. Duck in Yellow Curry is a favorite.
Fernandina Beach:
Lanna Thai on S.R. 200 across from Lowes, better than Green Papaya. Superb.
T-Rays. Best burger you ever ate. Seafood on Fridays the way you GrandMa made. Crab Cakes have secret ingredient. Crabmeat Lots of Crab. Breakfast at T-Rays is legenday, worth the trip, meet everyone important and not so in Fernandina at breakfast.
Timoti's Fry Shak. Fresh seafood fried right, say hello to Baileigh.
Or pop next door to Cafe Karibo and have one of their homegrown brews, warning, lunch can turn into dinner ;-)
Headslap
I liked the McDonald's on Arlington expressway close to my old apartment!
Ribs ..Fred Cottens..Main St
Anything at Picassos in Mandarin
Pizza at Schnitzel Haus on Atlantic Blvd
Vitos Pizza..Orange Park
In all seriousness I like Abe's Pizza next to Tinseltown on Southside BLVD But someone told me they're gone?
Big Pete's Pizza downtown. My buddy, who is from NY and a pizza snob, only eats their pizza. It is pretty good, but I think they are only open during the week.
Quote:Sammy? Is that you??
I came to this morning standing in the middle of a busy intersection wearing only a pair ballet slippers and a mohawk wig. I just might be him.

As far as I know, they are still open. A good spot for fried chicken. An artery clogger for sure.

I haven't eaten at BRCD in several years, but I remember going there with my parents as a kid a few times each year. (I remember quite a line for a table on Sundays after church) Peas and gravy? Mmmmmm. Wouldn't have thought of that - or thought I'd love it, but..... It's kinda' awesome.
I hope they are still around.

They are still around, and the food is still just as good as ever, right down to the cream peas. They're like crack.
Quote:Luigi's on University blvd has the best spaghetti sauce I've ever had. Place looks a bit rundown on the inside and out, but the food is always great.
Get a spaghetti dinner with meat sauce and you will be glad you did. They also make their own bleu cheese and its killer.
I second this motion. Large pizza, extra cheese & sausage.

Beach Road Chicken Dinners is alive and well. Been there since early 1900's. My grandfather used to sell chicken to them when he was a boy to help the family revenue stream.
This is a Jacksonville staple that you cannot miss. As an FYI.....Beach Road's makes a great tailgating choice as they are on Atlantic Blvd. at the base of the Hart Bridge!!!!!!!

Oh. There's an option? In that case, I'm not Sammy. He's out of my league.

Is this like a fight club thing? You know, the part where Edward Norton starts to figure out he is Tyler durden?
