...since we're going that far back, then probably just getting started with Mallett. Well behind the curve, so to speak.
Probably haven't given Dan Lefevour his "due" yet, either.
Moldy oldies never go out of style.

I don't know what it is with you and Mallett. The guy has done nothing in the NFL to warrant a 3rd round pick. Especially a 3rd round pick in a deep draft like this one. He has yet to attempt more than 4 passes in a real NFL game. He has as many completions as he does interceptions. Schaub for what he was, had at least attempted 40x more passes! Houston made a mistake trading for him in any case -- a mistake I hope we don't repeat. I'm not sure why you want us to.
The most I'd want to see this team give up for Mallett is the 6th rounder we got for Blaine Gabbert.

i dont think houston did make a mistake in trading for him. he had a few really good seasons for them. one bad season and they really mishandled the situation.

WHen the Jags traded for Brunell, what did he do up to that point to warrant a 3rd AND a 5th round pick?

The Eagles also tried to get Brunell. And he still had more than 4 passing attempts at the NFL level. Behind Brett Favre.

And Mallett is behind Brady, and we're picking at straws talking up Brunell & Schaub's pass attempts being more than Mallett's, I mean, were talking a few more in the scheme of things.

You would trade a 3rd and 5th for Mallet?

If you haven't shown any growth after 3 seasons you really think it's going to happen?

TMD as a GM would be a huge catastrophy.
He advocated trading a 2nd round pick to get Mallet, and he also advocated for the Steelers to trade away Big Ben.
Just brilliant.

Don't forget the Jaguars had been given a ton of extra picks by the NFL. One of the reasons Coughlin traded those picks for Brunell is because they would still have picks in each round regardless.

Well then I'll cite the Schaub example. 2 second rounders for a guy that had proven anything since college

He was an absolute stud in the preseason. He was a sought after player. Mallett isn't.

LOL so was Chad Owens and Troy Williamson as Jags.

Don't put too much stock into TMD's round values for QBs. He said Kirk Cousins was worth a 2nd round pick last season. I don't know if I've ever seen anybody so wrong about round values in my life.
Kirk Cousins...... drafted in the 4th round..... has done absolutely nothing but suck in the NFL.... is now somehow worth a 2nd round pick in TMDs eyes.

That wasn't my final value of him. At one point I think I said it, but....its funny, with other mock draft people they get the benefit of the doubt and don't have their highest mock of a certain player cherry picked later, but when you're dealing with flat out jerks like the above, he'll never let it go.

You pat yourself on the back every single chance you get, so of course I'm going to call you out for saying blatantly stupid things like "Cousins > RGIII" and "Cousins is good".

TMD, you're not you when you're hungry. Have a snickers.
You've got Gene Smith Syndrome. You've fallen in love with a guy, and continue to think he's going to be what you saw in him earlier. It's exactly what Gene Smith did. I won't bring up past instances of it happening, but I can remember them happening. I don't think Ryan Mallett is worth a 3rd round pick, and I don't think that Matt Schaub was worth what was given up for him. Brunell was a good trade that was made by an expansion team that happened to work out.

The difference is, I'm not overpaying for the player like Gene did. a 3rd rounder in exchange for Mallett, who I believe can and still will be a franchise QB for some team, should he get the opportunity, is a reasonable price. As said, Schaub cost 2 second rounders by comparison, and I think Mallett could be better than what Schaub was/ is as a pro.
