Quote:Caldwell is a smart guy. He knows that a third overall pick is too valuable to just throw at an average QB prospect. This draft is full of average to slightly above average qbs. Caldwell won't overspend on one of those guys.

You have no idea what Caldwell is thinking so let's just wait.
How many drafts do some fans need to understand nothing quoted or said by the GM is worth a grain of salt! Sometimes what is not said means more, like when Caldwell was ask during the phone call does the transition tag on mac scare you away or is that still possibility? Caldwell replied he did not really want to get into that, He said that is still a dicey situation!  Sounds to me like they just may be trying to figure out if there is a way to bring him to Jacksonville!

I have seen some of these "elite" QB's lose the big one against great defenses.  Just sayin

Kind of like what you're doing with your recent posting history, hypocrite? I see you're not waiting on anything.....

Quote:Doesn't mean squat.

He also said Gabbert is under contract and will return as a Jaguar and will be there to compete for a job, etc etc

^^^ This.

Caldwell said LAST WEEK that Gabbert would be in OTA's to compete.  He's blowin smoke.  Which is exactly what he should be doing.  With the signings the last couple of days, it only adds to the fact that we could go in any direction with the first pick.  But I think there's serious writing on the wall about a QB since the only guys we have are Henne and Stanzi.  If you seriously think those are the guys we're starting the season with, then you're extremely gullible.

Caldwell is really impressing me. Seems very smart and what I like most.. Confident
They'll draft a QB...maybe not first round...but they'll draft a QB.

I think they draft 2
Quote:I think they draft 2
Connor Shaw will be the 2nd one taken
I won't be disappointed if they don't go QB in the first round.  There's no QB in this draft who would warrant the #3 pick.

You don't know that
Caldwell is obviously Confunding us from beneath the Cloak of Invisibility.

I sure hope so...
Caldwell is playing the game trying to make people think we are not going QB in the first round. ... which could mean that we ARE going QB.

Or maybe its a double bluff...
Quote:You don't know that
I know that at #3 you'd better be darn sure you're getting a guy you can plug in as your starter as quickly as possible.  I don't see anyone, including the almighty Bridgewater who is plug and play on day 1.  There are a few guys who have the potential to be developed, but you don't pick a player you want to groom for a year or more at #3 in the draft.

Jake Locker says hi and he was pick #8 in the 2011 draft.

You may not see anyone worth the #3 pick at QB, but my point is Caldwell and other GMs actually may.

Completely agree.  Especially when you can get a Mettenberger without throwing away the third pick for him.

Mettenberger is a statue.  He makes Tom Brady look athletic.  Not sure why some people think Mettenberger in round 2 is good value because I don't see it.

Bridgewaters pocket poise, pocket presence, eye level, football IQ, and short to intermediate accuracy makes him a plug in play from day one. He just lacks the physical upside of a QB you'd like to take a 3, and is built like twig, those are the only knocks on him.
