Quote:Bridgewaters pocket poise, pocket presence, eye level, football IQ, and short to intermediate accuracy makes him a plug in play from day one. He just lacks the physical upside of a QB you'd like to take a 3, and is built like twig, those are the only knocks on him.
Those are significant issues to consider with the 3rd pick in the draft.  I'm not as impressed as others are with Bridgewater, but you've got the media talking points down with the poise, pocket presence, football IQ, etc..  In the end, I disagree that he's ready to be your starter on day 1 of the 2014 season.  That being the case, he wouldn't be my pick in the first round.

Under your philosophy up there, McNabb shouldn't have been picked by the Eagles with pick 2. He wasn't ready to be the game 1 or even game 7 starter.

Straw man alert.

Media points? If you've watched a Louisville game the past two years it's easy to see this.

I've watched more than one Louisville game in the past 2 years.  I've walked away completely underwhelmed.  He does not match the hype the media has blown up around him.  It's similar to the hype they ramped up with Geno Smith (no, I'm not comparing the players, simply the hype surrounding them).

Bridgewater may very well become a good player in the NFL.  I just don't see a franchise QB when I watch him, and that's what you're expecting if you're picking #3.

There were actually people who didn't see "franchise QB" when they watched Luck & Peyton in college.

I agree- especially about the hype comparable to Geno Smith.  Maybe I only watched the wrong Louisville games?  I mean- I certainly have seen 100 highlights of the guy.

Maybe ESPN picks about 5 or 6 QB's every year and just blows them up?

Quote:Mettenberger is a statue. He makes Tom Brady look athletic. Not sure why some people think Mettenberger in round 2 is good value because I don't see it.

Did you watch him play?

I am curious, who saw anything besides "Franchise" regarding Andrew Luck?  Or Manning?

All I can remember was that they both were "ALL WORLD" everything type guys in school.

why is it when someone doesnt feel Bridgewater is worth the 3rd pick or maybe doesnt think he can be a franchise QB people get so upset?  I don't understand why he has become so polarizing as a prospect.  Now I'm on record for wanting this guy and thinking he can be a very good/top tier type player but some of you people get so upset when he is criticized.

And there were people who called Garrard elite.

Question, who is upset?

Because people are worried that we will make one of two mistakes:

1. Passing on a franchise QB

2. Picking a bust QB with #3
Quote:Question, who is upset?

I dont remember a lot of screen names but I see a handful of people that get pretty upset when someone mentions him not being worth the 3rd.

Personally i hate when people use the excuse that he isnt the prospect Manning and Luck were because well not many are.

I don't see anyone getting upset, if you think he's worth the 3rd there's nothing wrong with defending your opinion, it goes the same for the people that don't think he's worth the 3rd. If one is using the Manning & Luck excuse as their only reason that's a cop out,  those are once in a generation players. If you think Bridgewater can develop into a Russell Wilson or a Matt Ryan (I think he's a mix between the two) then he will certainly be in the discussions for the 3rd overall pick.

You may not see it, but he was seen by most outlets as a first round talent prior to his injury.  If he weren't hurt, there would likely be a "big 4" folks are talking about.

Being injured, gives him a chance to be a value.  Same thing dropped McGahee's stock.  The patient willing to invest can be rewarded handsomely.
Quote:Question, who is upset?

A lot of members of the Bridgewater brigade get upset when someone doesn't praise their man.
We have to avoid a first round bust at all costs. If this mean skipping on a QB first round and picking one next year, I'm fine with that. A question is what if Henne plays the whole year and goes for 4200 yards ad 25 TDs.

Look up past scouting reports. They said things like "may have peaked in college" / "high floor, low ceiling".....crap like that.

Can we please stick to reality.
