Quote:I like how interior oline play was horrible last year. Jags sign a good guard and don't break the bank and yet people STILL complain. Just incredible.

They overpaid for a sub par player. I'm sure they know that, but felt like they had limited options going into next season.
Walter football.. lol

David Caldwell strikes again. Zane Beadles is coming off a down year, especially in terms of pass protection, an area he especially struggled in. Despite this, Caldwell signed Beadles to... improve the pass protection...? How does that make any sense?

I hate to keep harping on this, but this is yet another instance in which a player coming from a great team takes a big pay day to play for a crappy organization. Beadles is going to be a bust signing for Jacksonville because he's not very good.

Quote:Guard is one of the least important positions in football, I just don't understand picking one up in FA.

.....until you get down to the goal line and you need to punch it in....fail, and you get 3pts instead of 7
Dave Caldwell strikes again? Has Caldwell got a reputation for being an idiot or something?

Walterfootball has been on DC since he gave Gabbert a chance to prove himself instead of reaching for a QB like Geno Smith in last years draft.

Scheme around having to just pound it up the middle. I'd rather spend that money elsewhere.
Whoever clicks on a walter football link is a moron.

Quote:I agree. You can find a decent one in the middle of the draft and not pay a lot.

Good signing.  Durable Pro Bowler in an area of need.  We just upgraded LG to a level we haven't seen since Manuwai.  Hopefully this isn't the last roster spot we can do that between FA and the draft.

Y'all act like there's no way he can improve. I have faith that our coaching staff can definetly improve his play on the field

Dudes like 29, right?
Beadles is 27. Willie Young will be 29 at the start of the season--not nearly as excited about him.

Received high rookie accolades, had a single sack Pro Bowl season, and rarely misses games.

He's plenty good already.

Lol I'm not actually mad. I just wouldn't have made that deal. Still gonna support the team no matter what.
Is Beadles an upgrade over Uche?  If he is, then the signing is a good one. Especially since their salaries are similar (or so someone posted earlier).
Unlike the Seattle message board posting good things about Bryant, the Denver message board thought Beadles underachieved.

Beadles isn't the best guard in this UFA class, but he's not terrible. Once again, listen to the guy who lives in Denver and is forced to watch Broncos games. He probably was the weak link on the Broncos' OL last year, which would make him better than any lineman (aside from Pasztor) that the Jaguars started.

Is this dude married to Michelle Beadles?  If so, good acquisition !!!  I love that chick and look forward to partying with her at the beach.

Honestly, in a UFA signing, I'd rather hear that the guy wasn't playing up to his potential than hear that he was always giving 100% and was still just above-average.
