Quote:Beadles isn't the best guard in this UFA class, but he's not terrible. Once again, listen to the guy who lives in Denver and is forced to watch Broncos games. He probably was the weak link on the Broncos' OL last year, which would make him better than any lineman (aside from Pasztor) that the Jaguars started.

lol --- Good point.

[Image: jaguarsb_logo.gif] Jaguars sign G Zane Beadles (5 years, $30M; $13M guaranteed): D Grade

David Caldwell strikes again. Zane Beadles is coming off a down year, especially in terms of pass protection, an area he especially struggled in. Despite this, Caldwell signed Beadles to... improve the pass protection...? How does that make any sense?

I hate to keep harping on this, but this is yet another instance in which a player coming from a great team takes a big pay day to play for a crappy organization. Beadles is going to be a bust signing for Jacksonville because he's not very good.

Is Walter football Jungle Cat?
Quote:I agree. You can find a decent one in the middle of the draft and not pay a lot.

Like all those other ones we picked? Riiiiight.
Quote:Unlike the Seattle message board posting good things about Bryant, the Denver message board thought Beadles underachieved.

Welp you know what that means.....

Most of the posters here will deem the Seattle MB comments as reputable, and dismiss the Denver MB comments about Beadles as folly.

Thats the way it seems to work.

Oh well, not much more to say about this one....I don't see it as a very good signing, but time will tell.

Quote:Is Beadles an upgrade over Uche?  If he is, then the signing is a good one. Especially since their salaries are similar (or so someone posted earlier).

Should be.  Should be a Manuwai caliber player at what's been a bigger problem spot (LG) than Uche's position (RG.)

You really don't get it, do you? Is Zane Beadles the second coming of Bruce Matthews? No. Could he wipe the floor with every OL on this roster, maybe aside from Pasztor, based upon their play last year? Yes. He instantly becomes the best interior lineman on the team, and it's not even close. I'm telling you from having watched the guy in Denver, he might have been the weakest link on their front, but he'll be one of the strongest on ours.

He should be a Manuwai caliber of player???

Manuwai was very good for awhile....

No way I see Beadles being that good here.

I think people are going to be very disappointed.

He's getting 6 MIL per and 13 MIL guaranteed....thats a lot of money for not that good of a Guard. Just because he's better than the poop we had doesn't mean he's a good signing. His play would have to match/ exceed his salary for it to be a good signing.
Actually, it seems not everybody agrees.  ESPN has him 7th overall in their free agent tracker.

Yeah, Caplan and Polian (although not a huge Polian fan) love the signing. Said obviously it's a bit much, but in FA it's going to happen, and it isn't too shabby of a deal.

On another forum I posted on Broncos fans keep saying he's an above average guard that should fit ZBS perfectly....overpaid but going to be very good for us. But yeah, I'd definitely listen to TMD on this matter.

A- on that site. He must be horrible and the FO has failed is again. Wait what..

Cool. I like the opinion of other teams fans

Yes, he should be.

Both are Pro Bowlers, or did you kick your computer when your knee jerked and bring down your internet before you figured out who he is?

Quote:He's not going to generate any push in the power run game, and he really struggles vs powerful DT's in pass pro, that said - he's a great technician (has short arms so he has mastered his technique) and he is extremely smart (qualified Engineer).

Sure, $6 mill a year is too much, but he is very consistent, tough as nails (always on the field) and he is great in the locker room.

Not much guaranteed money so I think this is a nice move for the Jags. Chuffed for Zane too.

Oh - and he is excellent in space too, in particular when he has to pull from Guard.

Quote:Above average guard but he will make the Jags OL much better, best of luck to Zane.

Couple comments from Broncos fan on another message board.

He is top 3 guards available, knows the scheme, has potential for growth. Forget the Haters!

New O Line name. Beadles and the Fab4.?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPQ8P2QZv...ata_player

Ok... Just tired of the negative assumptions.

My take is, he played in front of Manning. Had to be smart, quick and accountable. He's durable and teaming with Joekel will make a decent combo.

Walter Football is a joke.  I use it as a reference for a list of draft prospects and free agents, but the thought process there is beyond dumb.

He had the one PB season, (Manning-induced) but was pretty bad otherwise.
Seems like a good signing.  Their line struggled with injuries, so hopefully people aren't judging him on that.

Yeah, Clady's the same way...right? If he wasn't with Manning he would likely be a low end LT.
