Bye
Will we all laugh when Babin re-signs with the team?

Well, if your stroll thru the free agency pool fails to cover your ankles, ending up where you was is at least a paycheck.

He could be back.

I think it's entirely possible he re-signs for 1/3 of his former salary 2 weeks from now.
Out another LEO but picked up a 5 tech over the weekend.  Branch is currently the starter, so we'll have a lot of new faces at the famed LEO position come training camp.

Tomorrow and this week should be very exciting!

I agree

Didn't he say that he and his family loved Jacksonville and that he was willing to accept a cheap deal?

Babin played hard while here. I wish him well, and wouldn't mind him back short term for less.

He would not have walked away from the $6m salary, unless he was told that he was likely to be released or to take a significant pay cut to stay. It's a business....I am sure he felt he could make more elsewhere if there was a reduced amount on the table.

I want Babin back, at the very least for depth. Hopefully he comes back for a couple years for cheap and helps mentor Jadaveon or Mack   Tongue
Quote:GOODBYE ! Glad to see him go. No more stupid personal foul penalties :thanks:
And good riddance!
Yeah, a productive asset trashed and tossed because he makes too much money. Funny we never seem to know what market value across the league is.

The Econo-Jaguars strike again!

You wonder why nobody wants to play here? You wonder why we've got six consecutive non-winning seasons? We're running a chain gang, that's why.

We were told the culture needs changing. What we see is the same old Econo-Jaguars.

Free agents beware! Free agents beware!

The Jags didn't trash or toss Babin, genius.
I was shocked He was the one to void it, but i still wonder if he will end up as a Jag next season. But i could still see someone taking a chance on him.

LOL.  Do you think there's any chance Gene Smith's draft choices helped us to the losing seasons?

How's the job search coming, Gene?

"Solid Chance Babin Resigns"
Quote:Babin was able to void his contract because of a rule in the new collective bargaining agreement that allows a vested veteran claimed after the trading deadline -- which the Jaguars did in 2012 -- to declare themselves a free agent after the season following the season in which he was claimed.
Interesting. Hopefully Jungle Cat can read this.

He's way too busy listening to himself talk to bother with reading.

That should be obvious by now.

Wut?

You fail to consider the facts.

Babin said he was willing to take less money to stay here. Now, he's G-O-N-E. He is a free agent and unlikely to ever play another snap for the Jaguars. As others state, his decision to void his deal means he was one step ahead of being cut by the franchise front office. He is now a free agent. The comprehensible fact is he is no longer a Jaguar.

A nice way to save face is to ignore what just happened and claim the door is open. A few days later and it all blows over real nice-like.

The facts are:

When the Jaguars were reaching the AFC Title game in the mid to late 1990s guys like Jason Babin were the norm here. Now they are the exception.

Babin lived up to his contract. He was productive and gave us a reminder of how it used to be. He has provided us a reminder of what a real NFL player is. We felt honored that he was here to play for us.

Wish Jason the best, but understand this simply is the same slashing action the Team Gene Regime used to create the problem (when there really wasn't one) in order to justify the solution they though they had figured out.

LOL.  Just stop.

He lived up to about 30% of his contract and committed a ghastly number of unforced errors in the process.  You should watch a Jaguars football game sometime.

He'd be good rotation at LEO if they bring him back at 2mil per year.  ....and they might.
