Then why are people surprised? Because Bradley said it instead of it being understood already?
Henne is the starter going into camp. There are two possible outcomes after that.
The rookie QB beats out Henne and starts week one
or
Henne beats out the rookie QB and starts week one
If Henne is the starter, you probably have the wrong QB.

Leftwich was scheduled to be the starter too...
So was Garrard...
Matt Flynn was signed to be Seattle's starter too...Until the rookie beat him out.

Or somebody else beats out Henne.
I thought Bradley was all about competition, turns out maybe that was all lip service.
If he were really focused on competition and getting better he'd have just said Henne will come in and try to win the job again like everyone else and the team wanted him in the competition.

I am sure if Matt Scott goes to camp and outperforms everyone, he will be the starter. And if I grow a foot, I could play in the NBA.

Because there's no point at this point to say "Henne will be our starter even if we draft a QB at 3!"
If he had said "If we draft a QB -- no matter where it is, they're going to have to win the job." That'd have made sense. But saying that Henne is going to be the starter even if we draft a QB either has absolutely no meaning at all or means that the Rookie isn't going to be able to win the starting job week 1.

He means that the rookie will have to beat out the incumbent starter in camp, as it should be. No real news here unless your a doom and gloom type individual like certain people on this board.

The ticket offices are now receiving what they call "the Henne bump" as renewals are skyrocketing. If you get a busy signal, don't give up.

It seems as if we're going for a Play Maker within the first round or two while potentially targeting a QB in round three if it presents itself... Can you also say Smoke Screen?

Geeezusss. Relax. Most teams still prefer to groom a rookie QB. There isn't a Luck in this draft. The majority are not ready for the transition. It ruined Gabbert. Luck looked like a rookie many times. RG didn't fare as well as Rouge Epidermis team would have liked.
The top 3 QBs are no where near NFL ready. That is why.
IF for the unlikely scenario the team drafts Johnny, then maybe. He can use his mobility, wereas the others would get killed with this line, doing to their timing no favors.
Playoffs this year are a reach. The FO is in no hurry. The Colts and Texans, who will rebound, are ahead of us.
My two cents.

Sorry but playing Gabbert early isn't what ruined him. If he would have sat the bench it just would have delayed the inevitable.
