Just saw this on Numbers never lie, according to draftinsiders.com they polled all the QB coaches at the combine and 17 picked Carr over Manziel.
Thats surprising, When I saw Carr play a good team he sucked, When I saw Johnny and the other QBs play good teams they played great, I hope the Jaguars are not one of those teams.
Another Goodell conspiracy hoping the Jags don't take Manziel and a good team takes him if he falls in the draft. CONSPIRACY
Not surprising, the guy is a 2-3rd round talent hyped to the level of a top 10.
By draft day he may not even be taken in the 1st

Hahaha AND WE NEVER REALLY LANDED ON THE MOON!
Carr is the sleeper in this draft to go in the top 20. Only the casual, wannabe fan scout would write off a QB after one bad game.
Sounds about right to me.
Coaches and GMs dont rely on ESPN hype and mock draft site rumors.
I wonder how many preferred Chad Pennington and Giovanni Carmazzi over Tom Brady?

If the Jags aren't high on taking a QB at the top of the 1st, I would do backflips if they could get a Mack/Clowney and then a falling Manziel.

I would like those choices only if Bridgewater is off the board. Other than that we take him.
The QB position is the most important and I think Bridgewater is a guy who can elevate it to a place we haven't seen since the Brunell days

2nd to 3rd round really? If he was 6'2 and did everything in college the same, these same scouts would be drooling over him, its height bias, this kid put up great passing numbers, even if he had 0 rushing yards he still throw the ball great.
And Carr has bust writing all over him, he reminds me of Christian Ponder who I called a bust when many on this board was drooling over him
That just means 17 coaches would rather play things as safely as possible and think they can fix Carr the same way the Jaguars thought they could fix Gabbert. Problem is you can't fix scared and I see the same scared of the rush look in Carr that Gabbert displays.

If he wasn't 5'11 and possessed such a low center of gravity (which you lose as a taller player) He would have never had the fantastic, evasive runs that he had in college.
His height plays into his quickness and him being elusive
His height isn't even the issue, he just isn't an NFL level Day 1 passer yet. You only draft in the 1st if you have reasonable assumption that the guy you are drafting can start day 1 (THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS)
Personally I want neither
Carr has no pocket presence
Manziel has weak pocket presence and is reckless (mechanics breakdown under pressure in the pocket as well)

I agree, I'm definitely a Teddy guy but Manziel does intrigue me. Johnny's boom/bust rate does scare me a bit but if they could find a way to get him if he falls then I would be ecstatic. Teddy is my guy with Manziel 2nd... None of the other top prospects do it for me.
If we had an older qb who can start for 1-2 years, I would be fine picking Manziel (not in the first though)
I'd rather see Bortles rather than Carr or Bridgewater. I like what I saw of him in the little game action I saw. He moved well and kept his eyes down field in addition to having the size.
Quote:Excuse me, I meant Carr or Manziel. Bridgewater from what I can tell is more ready than anyone in the draft.
That said I definitely don't want Carr for a draft pick, and Manziel is a guy I wouldn't risk taking ahead of the third round.
Agreed on both points
I am intrigued by Bortles, I want to get a good gauge of his arm strength first

Third round.. Lol.
