Quote:Nah, add Mariota, Hundley, Hogan, Petty, maybe even Mannion also . It does have the potential to be special if most of them declare.

I'm going to be very interested to see if Hundley progresses this upcoming season. And I'm still surprised that Mannion didn't declare this season.

Coming from someone who is drooling over Bridgewater like a dog with his head hanging out the window, this is funny.

I like Bridgewater because of several things

1. Poised under pressure, his mechanics rarely breakdown under pressure

2. Accurate and throws receivers open

3. Great touch

4. Can control his arm strength on throws

5. Tough

6. Came from a pro style system

7. Tough

8. Fierce competitor

9. Athletic and mobile but doesn't depend on it

10. High football IQ

Whats not to like???

None of the Qbs next year possess all those attribute besides Winston and Cook

And even those two are no where near the refinement that Bridgewater has
And when Winston, Mariota and Hundley goes back to school the 2016 class will look better too right

With very rare exception, you can poke holes in any QB coming out of any draft, even the supposed top-rated ones. The Jags will take a QB early in this draft (1st or 2nd round). If he doesn't work out and deemed warranted, the rookie scale affords you to take another one next year.
WIseman i feel you.

Only top QB with a noticable stronger arm is Carr. - Overall both have a NFL arm so it means little

Only QB more Mobile is Manziel. - Again Bridgewater is more than mobile enough and actually avoids contact

Only Qb with a better deep ball is Bortles. - Can be easily coached and his scheme in college wasnt really geared towards the deep ball.

None of them have his mental ability (IMO the most important thing for a QB) and its not remotely close , None have his poise under pressure and its not remotely close , None have his level of touch and arm control and its not remotely close.

That's true, QBs developing never happens.

Hey man i'm with you and everyone can call me an obsessive Bridgewater fan as well because i want him on the Jags and i want him now.
and re-hash every year. I can't count the number of drafts they've said next years crop is better.

I think the only year that will prove right was this last draft. All of the QB's look to be bust from last year.

I'd bet the farm that the Jags draft a QB before the 4th round and that guy starts by week 10.

2015!

Also what SilentJaguar said.

Just go ahead and take a QB from a weak class.  You can't afford to pass.

Signed,

Josh Freeman

Mark Sanchez

Geno Smith

Jamarcus Russel

Vince Young

Matt Leinart

Byron Leftwich

David Carr

Joey Harrington

Tim Couch

Akili Smith

Cade McNown

Ryan Leaf

Heath Schuler

Rick Mirer

David Klingler

Andre Ware

...

In the case of Leftwich, it cost selecting Roethlisberger the following year.  The same situation we may be facing if we reach for a QB with pick #3 this year.

Take a QB this year.  Even two if you like.  But rest assured there will likely be a much better selection of QBs to choose from next year.

That's why I believe the wisest move would be to look for a QB in the second or third, and pick up another developmental QB later between 5-7 or UDFA.

The thing about "needing" a QB, is that it is never "now or never."  You get to draft players every year.  No one is stopping you from taking a QB.  You can't fear passing on a guy who you don't feel is the right value.  That causes you to choose guys from the above list instead of Wilsons and Kaepernicks.  Have the stones to pass if the value isn't right.  You will find one as long as you do your homework and don't panic reaching for a "must have" QB that's not really so "must have" after all.

Especially since Bridgewater is right alongside them.
Hindsight is my friend. It's so easy to list bust and hits years after they have been drafted

You strike me as someone who has a very small clue on how to grade qbs...

If the Texans are stupid enough, We will draft BRidgewater

Assuming it always does happen is just as wrong. There have been plenty of QBs who we expect to progress to that next level in the next year it just doesnt happen. Im not convinced yet with a few on that list so far. Might be the same as this year with 3 top 15 QBs.

Not saying it doesnt, just saying all of them at this point are overrated
