Coming from the multitude of trusted draftniks on twitter that I follow:

Day 1 South Practice:

- Carr was the best looking QB prospect. Had by a large margin the best velocity of the QBs, and pretty good accuracy. Looked comfortable under center and dropping back.

- Fales had great accuracy and looked very fluid handling the ball and going through all of the motions. Struggled with throws outside and deep, requires full body and a lot of effort.

- Garoppolo struggled throughout, suspected of possibly being worn down from the Shrine week and game all last week. Struggled taking the exchange from center and showed subpar accuracy and velocity.

- Jordan Matthews was the standout WR physically. Consistently beat the DB and looked sharp and smooth running routes and making cuts. Dropped several gimme passes, however.

- Billy Turner was the offensive line standout. Was at RT instead of normal LT during practice and looked a bit out of sorts with the switch, but was physically a stud and showed great potential.

- Jeremy Attachou was the quickest timed to the QB spot during practice, registering .07 seconds faster than Mingo's fastest time last year according to one draftnik. Many comments about how thin he was, especially toothpick legs.

- Dee Ford was the specimen overall DE of the first practice. Was quick, explosive, and powerful. Put his blocker on skates a few times. (my personal favorite for pick 39 as of right now)

- Daniel McCullers was even bigger than expected...total behemoth. Unfortunately, also looked very stiff and stayed too upright during drills.

Also worth noting that Carr and Matthews stayed after to work on drills and route timing. They were the only two from the South team that stayed on the field after practice. Thumbs up for that work ethic.

*Didn't see many notes on RB or DBs. Will post here as I see good insights for anyone.

This team has to do whatever they can to get Dee Ford. He is going to be very good.

Thanks for the update.

Interesting storyline with Carr.

Dee Ford or Jordan Matthews in round two, please.

Different people different opinions.

The main I thing I saw tweeted was that Garoppolo overall looked better then Carr and impressed a lot of folks..

Since we not there I am writing this off as people seeing what they want to see to backup their already formed opinion of players.

Any updates on:

Antonio Andrews and Cody Hoffman?

Carr has velocity, Fales had accuracy, Garoppolo gets ball out quick. Latter two struggle with ball flutter. Garoppolo throws ball high.

For QBs, Fales and Garoppolo are not in the same league with Carr in drills. The arm strength and velocity aren't close.

@DarrenPage15: QB's doing drill work to this point without defenders. Derek Carr snaps throws better than Garoppolo and Fales.

@ShanePHallam First day but jimmy Garoppolo struggling to find open WRs or throw timing routes. Still early though

Garoppolo tends to struggle a bit when he has to drive the ball, however. WCO profile.

@Dan_Hope: Have seen Jimmy Garoppolo mishandle a few snaps from under center today. Learning process from mostly playing out of the gun.

I saw a couple good ones too though:

Good question.Fales best footwork, Carr impressed across field, Garoppolo's release biggest takeaway. RT @VikingsFBFan: Which QB stands out?

I thought Garoppolo and Fresno QB Derek Carr were on a different level than San Jose St QB David Fales during the South practice.

I didn't hear anything on any RB. Hoffman is on the North team and their practice is underway right now. Hoffman was noted during weigh ins for a big and very solidly built body.

yeah, thats possible.

Carr friggin sucks, I don't care what he does in this practice week or upcoming practice game.... I don't want him anywhere near this franchise.

Hopefully we're smart enough to not be swayed by some asthetics here and go by what matters....his performance in a game that counted against a tough opponent like vs USC

Did they switch him from the South to the North?

Hmm, no my bad. I just assumed BYU would be on the north squad, especially since I didn't see his name come up a single time during the South practice tweets.

North Practice day 1 (in progress, will update throughout):

- All 3 North QBs have the prototypical NFL arm, but are struggling throwing mightily...not unexpected. Packers scout "based on what I'm seeing Tahj Boyd is not draftable"

- Aaron Donald is blowing up Cyril Richardson repeatedly. Tons of tweets about how impressive he has been. Worth noting Donald measured in taller than expected at almost 6' 1''.

- Herron and Shaq Evans are getting open repeatedly. Herron reminding people of a young Steve Smith...small, very fast, deceptively strong, and ultra competitive.

- Zack Martin, despite having short arms for LT is blocking everything. Don't know much about him as I hate watching ND, but he's creating some buzz.

- Trent Murphy is a stud. We all already knew that.

- Seantrel Henderson is going to make himself a lot of money. Was one of the most impressive weigh in warriors and looks motivated to dominate in practice too.

How is Miami considered north?

I'm glad the staff will get a good look at these guys. I'm also not impressed with Carr and he'd have to have a great performance in the game to even sway me a little bit. I think Garoppolo - while raw - has a better chance at being a viable long term starter in the NFL. Though these are just gut reactions to a few cut-ups - I can see both of them struggling in transition to the pros - but I envision Garoppolo transitioning more successfully over time.

Lol who knows but Morris has been terrible so I'm glad our coaches are getting the inside look at the 3 South QBs and not him.

Uh, oh......excusie time!!!
Practice is over now, not nearly as many live tweets about North practice, but will still keep an eye out for any more insight given.
