Quote:Let's take a look at Buffalo's 2013 schedule a little bit...
Stoney Brook 5-6
UConn 3-9
Eastern Michigan 2-10
Western Michigan 1-11
UMass 1-11
Kent State 4-8
Ohio 7-6
Toledo 7-5
Miami (Ohio) 0-12
Have you seen him play? I'm guessing you haven't since your only argument is an image from Shrek and his schedule. He is super fluid, quick, and has power to go with it. I see him as the #2 defensive player in this draft behind Clowney.
Quote:Bucky Brooks gave him very guarded praise, generally indicating that he'll be a good but not elite player. I have not seen Mack play, but his build looks beast, has tremendous defensive disruptive stats (forced fumbles, tackles for loss....), and has a very high motor. It will be interesting to see how he does at the Combine. I don't see a disruptor such as this guy dropping into the bottom of the 1st round as Brooks speculates.
Sounds like Vernon Gholston.
I wouldn't be apposed to trading down to a team like Minnesota for a extra second and picking Mack in the first at the 8th spot

I would want more than a 2nd round pick.

Glad to see you're still the message board idiot.
Have you seen Tulsa's schedule by the way, Cody Green's #1 fan?
If he comes here we can dub him Big Mack.
For people thinking he is a Leo, he I dont think he is and pretty much McShay and Bill Polion said he is a LB who could play all 4 LB spots in both 3-4 and 4-3.
If we draft him, he would be used like Von Miller, he is super talented but he wont be a LEO, if we can sign a DE and draft him would vastly improve the pass rush, since I have 3 guys over him I wouldnt draft him at 3 since one of my guys would be on the board, but in a trade back would be a steal.
He was best in the backpedal drill IMO where they hop over the pads
Yeah he's not our LEO. He's our Von Miller - type 43 linebacker. A guy who can do it all and excels at rushing the passer.
Now, if we could snag him and combine him with a good LEO, like a Bruce Irvin type?
:O
How is Von Miller not a LEO?
Because while pass-rushing is his strong suit, it isn't his only role. He drops in coverage and fills gaps against the run. The LEO's only responsibility is to get upfield (or in Branch's case, let the o-line get distracted).
Now, I could see Mack dropping down as a Designated Pass Rusher for passing downs, or being used in the Lightning Package we had so much success with this year. But just as a LEO? No, it'd be a waste.
It'd be the equivalent of just letting Deion Sanders play cornerback. Yeah, he'd be really good at it, but you're forfeiting his amazing return ability and his firepower on offense as well.
Edit: It's why (along with upper-body strength issues) Dion Jordan had trouble this year at Miami. They drafted a linebacker who was really good at coverage (could man up on slot receivers) and above average at pass-rushing, and put him in a spot where he'd have to stuff the run, which isn't his strength.
When you have versatile players, you have to change your scheme a little bit to harness all of their talents.
Really hope we draft him if we miss out on Teddy/Clowney. Maybe trade back a few spots with whoever wants JFF.
If we aren't able to pick up Greg Hardy in FA, then either Mack or Clowney wouldn't be a bad plan B. If we're lucky to pick up Hardy, and if Dave's QB is there, I say take him. If not, Watkins is a no brainier for me.
I have been trying to think of a good comparison for Mack and Willie McGinest nailed it IMO. Willie McGinest said Mack reminds him of a more athletic version of
49ers LB
NaVorro Bowman. If Mack can become the player Bowman is I would take him at 3 any day of the week.
That's a pretty good comp, except Mack is bigger and more of a threat in pass rush IMO.
The guy I came up with was a bigger, faster, better Terrell Suggs. Plays violently, three down guy, extremely high effort, above average in all three phases, leadership qualities.
I don't care who his comp is, though. If we get him and he's as good as expected I'll be psyched. Heck I'll be psyched no matter who we get.

I dont think he is as good as a pass rusher as Suggs is or as Suggs was coming out of college. But I think he is more well rounded like a Bowman. Bowman doesnt blitz much but when he does most of the time he gets to the QB. Very underrated pass rusher because of that IMO. Daryl Smith was the same way. He was very effective when he did blitz just didnt do it a lot
If Suggs and Urlacher had a baby.
After watching some Buffalo games, he's very good in zone coverage, carrying players through his zone unto the next and picking up the ensuing players. I also like his mix of power and speed. He also uses his hands very well.
"bigger" Terrell Suggs?
Wait, isn't Suggs bigger than Mack?
