Oh yeah, I think he gives the defense an element of flexibility that it hasn't had before, in Jacksonville or Seattle.

Quote:So say Clowney is gone and lets also say that Caldwell wanted Teddy, but he got selected at 2... Wouldn't Mack be a legit option at 3? I bet Gus would love to have him..

Yes. Bortles there would be an epic reach.
Quote:If Teddy is gone and DC either traded down a few spots and grabbed mack and then somehow grabbed Dee Ford and McCarron or something like that with the extra possible picks, id be pretty pumped.

McCarron wont be good once all that ink spreads to his brain.

he can afford to get that bad boy lasered off... haha
Quote:Let's take a look at Buffalo's 2013 schedule a little bit...

Stoney Brook 5-6

UConn 3-9

Eastern Michigan 2-10

Western Michigan 1-11

UMass 1-11

Kent State 4-8

Ohio 7-6

Toledo 7-5

Miami (Ohio) 0-12
weren't you the one that was high on Eric Fisher? guess his SOS didn't matter as much, huh?

if this is the best you can come up with, why even bother? what are you gonna question next, what he does in combine drills?

my preference would be Mack or Watkins in that scenario, I think both could be elite at their positions, so I'd give the edge to Mack because he'd improve our pass rush, wouldn't be upset with either, we're in a really good spot at #3 IMO

You also have to lean towards Mack because there is a bigger drop off at that position compared to the WRs later on.
If Gene Smith was still the GM, you could be assured the Jags would select the one top 10 player from Buffalo.

Rumor has it Atlanta prefers Mack over Barr.

Scenario:

Clowney and Teddy go at 1 and 2.

Rumors have the Jaguars high on Mack, taking him with pick 3 and being happy.

This gets Atlanta calling Caldwell trying for a trade up to get Mack.   Question 1) what would you take to drop back to 6?  Question 2) do you make the trade assuming a fair offer is made?  Question 3) who do you consider at pick number 6 if you do make the trade back?

I would love a trade back to 6...then another trade back outside the top 10 if someone falls in love with a guy available at 6.  Dream scenario for me with so much talent in this draft and so many needs and talent voids on the roster.

But wouldn't you know it, he's not around when that might actually be a good idea.
mack being higher rated than barr isn't really news to me

mack higher rated than clowney would be

if i was atlanta i would only trade up for clowney

they are in a very nice situation.

they have a pretty good shot of getting one of clowney or mack if they decide to go pass rush

they are almost certain to get one out of matthews and robinson

if i was jacksonville i would trade with a atlanta for a second and a 4th and take a qb or mack

Clowney - Mack - Bridgewater are my top three, so I wouldn't see myself trading out of that. I like the idea of stacking up draft picks and all but I also like the idea of adding top flight talent to the roster. So my response to your questions are:

1. A lot. Like, trade firsts and next year's first type of a lot. Not to mention some later round picks as well. I think that this draft is deep, but there are only a few "special" players in my opinion and if those other two are gone that means there's only one shot left.

2. I think that my version of "fair" and Atlanta's is going to be vastly different. That's just me.

3. If I'm moving back to Six, then I'm thinking Watkins. If he's not there, maybe Barr or even Bortles.
Here's a really good write up on Mack.

I do like Mack.....but 3 is too early. If we could trade down to 5 or 6, add picks and still get Mack, that would be nice.

Part of supporting the selection of Eric Fisher last year included backing up his Combine with video.

Try doing the same for Mack with this:

He's the third best non OT in the draft. If Teddy and Clowney are gone him at 3 would be the best pick.

1 bad game and he's a bust? and it's kinda hard to get after the passer when you're down by 5 TDs by halftime
