Quote:Excellent thread OP. Although I think you may have already answered your own question.

1)OPTION NUMBER 1-Go safe, draft Bridgewater, continue to progress.

Dave likes what he currently sees on the field. He is okay with the playbook and our offensive mindset is fine and dandy: but just feels that we could use a better QB at the helm. Perhaps one who protects the ball more, makes better decisions, someone we can trust. We get Bridgewater, and are the better for it.

THE GOOD NEWS

We finally have our franchise guy, and our future is more clear. We take a huge leap forwards in the rebuilding process. And with a few more pieces on both sides of the ball, the Jaguars with Teddy at the helm are a bonafied playoff contender(I would compare it to the Colts over the last few years).

THE BAD NEWS

Fans shouldn't flock to Everbank field looking for an entirely new Jaguars team. We already have a QB in Henne that has shown the ability to throw over 200-yards in NFL games. Teddy will be good, but he will be worked into our playbook, as opposed to us changing the entire thing to suit him. The 2014 Jaguars will look eerily similar to the 2013 Jaguars with a better Quarterback.

2)OPTION NUMBER 2-Bet the house, draft Tebow, hold on for the ride

That last loss of the season showed Dave just how far this team is off from being a real contender. This team does not just need a better QB, it's need a jolt in the arm to resucitate it. Gus' predecessor lasted all of a year in Jax. Khan wants wins and Khan wants money right now. This is not the time to be safe. We draft Tebow and never look back.

THE GOOD NEWS

Jag fans don't need any more stupid slogans like 'All In' or 'Stand United', because it's obvious from the very first game that this is an entirely different team. The offense is revolutionary, and cutting-edge, and new(think the Eagles). And the fans are talking playoffs are first year(much like Washington during RG3's rookie year). We are the most talked about, exciting team in the NFL, and the possibilities are literally limitless to where we can go.

THE BAD NEWS

Tebow is a firebrand. With him, you're betting the house, and seeing what turns up. Either Tebow makes Gus and Dave for life, one the smartest duos in the NFL, and not to mention 2 very-very rich men. Or the entire Manziel-experiment fails, everybody is fired, and the Jaguars left reeling 5-years from now. But that's life. The investments with the highest returns always comes with the highest risk.

Your move Dave.

Replaced "Manziel" with "Tebow" to illustrate the similar arguments.
Quote:I'm new here....was it this bad during the Leftwich vs. Garrard deal?

You should of seen this MB after Matt Jones was drafted. The hog fans swarmed and assured us Matt could walk on water.
But he's not similar. No one is. Manziel's play style is all his own. That's why I'm so fascinated with him. There is something about him that none of the other QBs (I've scouted almost a dozen in this class) don't have. I've watched a ton of his games, I doubt I'll be changing my tune any time soon. He's obviously not without risk, but his upside is unparalleled.

Quote:You should have seen it just before the Tebow draft.

I'm glad I wasn't here......I think I'll stay out of the college section till after the draft......this is lame man.....every thread I go into turns into Manziel debate......I'm happy to just get somebody good......Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles, Clowney.....it's all good man

really dude? My final paragraph was about how Manziel could set this franchise back 5-years. REally, I'm a homer?

I'm looking for an intellegent argument. Tell me one thing you disagree with what I said, either the Bridgewater of Manziel part.

One-liners are cute, but lets talk.

You sound like the one infatuated. There is plenty of bad, bad, bad footage on Manziel. He's only moderately accurate, has zero pocket presence and RUNS from a clean pocket several times a game. In my experience, guys like that don't turn into good pro's. What makes you so sure he's going to be a franchise option?

Your name in "Johnny Jaguar". I've stated my objections to Manziel many times in this thread. He doesn't have a lot of necessary traits, plays with excellent surrounding talent that can overshadow his deficiencies and seems to LOVE being a sideshow.
Jagsfreak27 is like Tebow.

Hey cool it works, writing one-liners is cool, and I don't even have to intellegently argue my point.

Moderately accurate? The guy nails throw after throw every game. Now when you talk about pocket presence, I'm assuming you mean his ability to maneuver in a way like Teddy does. Manziel doesn't do that, he has his incredible sixth sense and is able to run around and make plays. He has improved in the pocket, and in staying in the pocket, drastically this year.

I'm not infatuated with him, I'm infatuated with Franchise QBs. If Teddy falls to us, we take him. He has less upside but a higher floor at QB than anyone I've ever seen. Either way we'll be good.

So do you think I was also treating Bridgewater like Tebow too? Cause I said some really good things about him too.

Sure don't see Franchise QB.
Ok, so you've picked out his single worst game from this season, as well as a game from his FRESHMAN year. Show me a  franchise QB that never has an occasional bad game, and I'll show you a Madden created character.

Yeah that's pretty pathetic. He was also playing hurt that game against LSU against hurricane force winds on a field that was extremely wet/slippery. Hardly any indication of anything. His receivers were also getting manhandled, it wasn't just him messing up.

I don't think people realize the disparity in talent between TAMU and the other SEC teams, especially the upper echelon. Without Manziel and Evans, TAMU would not even be a 5 win team.

Just don't understand why we can't appreciate both top QBs this year.

Lemme just say this for the record: I like both Teddy and Johnny. Lemme say it again, I like BOTH Teddy and Johnny.

I don't even mind saying that Bridgewater is a more NFL-standard QB. I will be thrilled to have either one. But I swear, some of you Johnny-haters, if we draft him, you better go find a really big rock to live under. Ooooooor, here's an idea. We can all just appreciate what a lucky year this is for the Jaguars. It's a win-win. The Bridgewater-Manziel combo is IMO comparable only to Luck-RG3 a few years ago. Same effect of Pocket Passer vs Dual Threat.

All I ask is don't talk trash and then come draft day and cry me a river. Just like both of them. It's much more fun and much less argumentative.
Excellent post Johnny.

Doesn't matter.....no logic can sway.......when it's personal......and he admitted to it earlier.....

I think it's more that you are a random non-Jags fan that came on here, created an account devoted to your boy, and have used basically every post of your tiny forum career on here pumping up your boy.

As soon as the Jags pass on him, or take him and he fails you will move on too. We want Jags die hards who are going to stick with and support the team no matter who they draft, and we don't think that is you.
I really could care less about who we draft as long as we get better. Both QB's could be huge busts or great picks who knows till they get here and actually play we might not even pick either one of them. You just got to enjoy the ride as long as your an actual fan it shouldn't be hard. I think we will be a better team no matter who we pick and I went to A&M it would be nice to pick Johnny, but I'm not going to hate on someone eles's opinion either.

Johnny, I gotta say man, you're acting very similar to a guy named VagrantWade who posted here recently. He was here JUST for Teddy, and when it became clear he wouldn't be ours, he left. Just food for thought, I appreciate your presence here though man.

Says the guy from Kentucky, with a Kentucky QB as his picture. Okay my unbiased bro.
