Quote:I will say that if Johnny doesn't declare, or both he and Teddy or gone before our pick, then we need to take Clowney. I don't like him but he's much better value than Bortles at 3.

Well, I'll agree that we either have to take Clowney at 3 or trade the pick.

WHat you CANNOT do at 3 is pass on Clowney and take someone like Barr or Matthews. Thats akin to leaving points on the field (to use a football analogy)

what's the issue with barr?

from what i have heard and seen

very raw but he is still learning the position however his physical abilities are very very high, may take more time to produce as a passrusher than clowney but could have a higher ceiling

Quote:I think Clowney is Dave's #1 player on his board without a doubt. Followed by Bridgewater. After that I couldn't even guess.

With the emphasis Dave has put on finding that franchise QB in recent interviews, I'd guess Bridgewater is #1 on his board.  It wouldn't surprise me if Clowney is the next guy on that list, though.

TMD flipped his opinion, like he does so often, of Barr recently.

I think Clowney or Barr would excel in our defense.  The only realistic pick at 3 I would be against is Jake Matthews.

Much much worse during Leftwich v. Garrard.

Nothing was flipped. and nothings the matter with Barr.

The point (which I'm not surprised flew over MoJo'44;s head like a Jumbo Jet, is that if you want to take Barr, you don't take him at 3 with Clowney still on the board, you trade down and maximize your value. Only a [BAD WORD REMOVED] like Gene Smith would sit at 3 and take a player like Barr over Clowney without trading down.

My point wasn't that Barr isn't good. I like Barr. But good GM's work the draft and get need to meet value, not take their guy regardless of pick, just because they love the player. (Alualu) There will be demand for Clowney, so you take advantage of that.
