That's a cute thing for Fisch to say, but its naive to think that Caldwell didn't begin that evaluation a long time ago.

I heard the QB from Idaho Community College Tech is pretty good..

I think Fisch was saying everybody will stop everything now to just evaluate college quarterbacks. During the season, they have to focus on many other things, so their evaluation was limited. After the Colts game, nobody responsible for choosing a quarterback will have to do something else and make time to evaluate quarterbacks. That is the difference.

I want the QB coach looking at tape

I want the all the QB related scouts evaluating

I want Fisch looking at tape.

I want Tony Kaan running numbers

I want Gus bradley looking into their souls

I want Caldwell compiling all the info and making the selection that changes the jaguars fate

If they find him. The guy. The QB that'll bring us back to the glory days. I don't care the price. Get him. If he truely isn't there, Then draft a late round hungry rookie and lets try this again next year.

Edit: Also, I hope Caldwell doesn't select based on measurable's alone. Thats what Gene Smith did and we got Blaine Gabbert. A body crafted to play the position better than anyone but a mind that just couldn't handle the pressure.
The thing is you never really know who the guy gonna be..Nobody knew Colin Kaerpernick would be this good, or Russell Wilson.. you just kinda shoot in the wind and hope you hit.
Quote:They don't need to. Everyone knows none of them are good enough to start in the NFL.
Yeah, "everyone knows" lol from their 0 minutes on an NFL field. The notion that "everyone knows" the players aren't good, so why give them a shot is a sign that you have a bad franchise. This is why we lose year in and year out. We put the same crap on the field every single week and are too stubborn in our ways to give anybody else a shot.  With that attitude, this team is going nowhere.

Dude.. If a certain QB can't even compete for a backup position on THIS roster, that's not saying much at all.. I think i'll stick with Gus' and Dave's evaluation on Stanzi..
Your obsession with Stanzi is borderline Single White Female, Psycho and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.. Its kinda creepy..

It doesn't have to be Stanzi. It could be Scott, heck it could be Denard for all I care. And I wouldn't trust Gus and Dave's evaluation of any quarterback. That's like saying "I'll stick with Jimmy Carter's evaluation of the economy."

I'd rather be blindly optimistic about what might be than be blindly dismissive of the reality that sits right in front of me. Gabbert and Henne are bums. They've always been bums, and they always will be bums. Stanzi is the third option, and by far the best option out of the 3. I'd say the same thing for Matt Scott if he was 3rd string right now. I don't understand the losing attitude of some posters on this board. You must be a masochist.

If everybody stops everything just to evaluate college quarterbacks, who's going to evaluate the college pass rushers, O-linemen and receivers we also need?

Yup.. Gabbert and Henne are bums.. I agree with that statement. Which also brings me to my point of Stanzi can't get playing time over those bums. What's that say about Stanzi?

Yeah, Tony Romo can't beat out Vinny Testeverde and Quincy Carter. If he can't best those two in practice you KNOW he's not NFL caliber. What a trash QB, he'll never make it in this league.

So are you comparing Gabbert and Henne to Romo and Testeverde?
Please tell me you're not..
I do have a question.. If Stanzi doesn't make it with this organisation next season and he's cut and picked up by a CFL or Arena football team, are you still going to be a Jags fan?
Quote:Carr fits Fischs offense more so than any prospect in this class.

Hopefully Gabbert can teach him how to hold a clipboard before we cut him.

I'll pass on Carr.

What? No. I'm comparing them to Quincy Carter and Testeverde when Romo was 3rd string. I'm not sure if you get the point I'm trying to make. My point is, there have been plenty of successful backups that were backups to bums because their coach didn't know how to evaluate quarterbacks.

Was I a jags fan when the organization (with a "z" like in "zebra") drafted Gabbert over Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick, when it only took about 1/6th of a brain to see that Gabbert was trash?

I'm not going to abandon the team because of poor decisions at the quarterback position. If I was going to do that, I would have done that a long time ago.

Might have to change the screen name though. Who are we gonna have at 3rd string next year? LynchTime3 has a good ring to it.

Before you go trying to give spelling lessons. Make sure the guy is incorrect first.

Yeah, I don't know about Carr either. Did anyone watch his game against USC? I like to judge college quarterbacks on how good they play in pressure games, but I didn't see him play much this year. I have confidence that we are gonna seek out the most obvious bust and draft him. Aaron Murray seems like a good fit.
