I hope Luck gets healthy and returns as ideal depth for the left side of the OL, Meanwhile, we can use a truly dominant LG. I miss Manuwai.

Quote:Don't you see the benefit of at least seeing how Luke played at LG instead of leaving him on the bench? Get to see if he can play at a starter level at another spot, which it looked like he did in the small sample, and you get to have a guy with starter experience at LT and G on the bench if it doesn't work out.
Luke as a versatile bench lineman if it doesn't work out is a good idea, but the 'if it doesn't work out' in our case was a disaster at LG. That's what I mean by Dave was still heavily invested in Luke, whether it be at LT or LG.

If he brought in a legitimate LG (obviously far better than Bernadeau) then your point would be a good one, give Luke a shot at competing at LT and LG and if it doesn't work out then he turns into a respectable versatile backup for both. The lack of LG alternative was the missing factor.
Nope, that is all.

I mean the proof is in the pudding. Caldwell told brought Beachum in to fight for the starting spot and he win. Believe he planned on getting a guard like Osemele or drafting one but it never quite materialized. Leading him to have to be content with Joke and a scrub battling for the spot or trade for someone like Leary.

Of all the things to fault Caldwell on, his handling of Joke is not one of them.
Give the kid a chance.

Should have drafted Dak Sad

why? Because hes good with Dallas? Lol, its funny if you think he would be anywhere close to as good as he is now if we drafted him. If we did he would be another bust

Yes his team is good, but he's making plays and throws every single game that makes me say wow, all the way back to preseason. Don't just read the storylines and the stats dude, kid can ball.

its not about stats, its about his oline, RB, TE, and coaching staff that is helping him succeed. Which are all light years ahead of ours. They have an all time great oline, a great coaching staff, a HOF TE, and one of the best RB to come out of the drafts in years. Thats why he has played so well. He would have none of that here

its not hard to make plays when you have all i listed above, not to mention on of the best Wr and others good ones at the position

For all we know, Brandon Allen might do just as well behind that Cowboys OL with Elliott at RB and Witten and Dez Bryant running around downfield.

agreed

I totally agree.

If only the coaching staff had a week or so to analyze and get a close up view of him (he also played very well in the Senior bowl).
If they think enough folks will skip the final game anyway... why not give him that one.

The only thing to consider is whether or not it will affect the gates (any more than losing already has.)

I'm not sure it matters much for the last game or two where attendance is way down in losing seasons, but I'd try to gauge it first anyway.  No use in saying no to revenue.  Revenue would be more important than a win or loss at this point of the season.

They did that with Garrard/Gray the final game in 2007.

That's what I'm saying! They praised Dak all week and he was on our team. The Cowboys were the other team haha.

We missed on a good QB, plain and simple. Some people just have a hard time admitting it.

Like of course he wouldn't be playing as well here, but it would be way more encouraging than Blake right now I could guarantee that.

Haha wow. No.

Excuses. Kid is executing and making plays all game, every game. Taking advantage of the opportunity. If he was just "serviceable" as you may think he is, then Romo would be starting already.

We missed on him and it stinks to say that considering he was one of our guys at the senior bowl.

Yup, hes doing lots of good things right now that go beyond being carried by his team. Good maneuvering of the pocket, good decision making, litle things that are in the QBs hands that arent directly related to the talent around him. Guys on here say he would have been a bust to rationalize the fact that we passed on a much better quarterback.

He's really fun to watch. That 3rd and 13 against the Vikings when there was pressure, he escaped the pocket, ran, and dove for the first down was incredible to me.

Facts, Manuwai was quietly the best LG in the league not named Faneca until the injury in 2008. Dude was a true road grader in terms of run blocking and would just wash the 3-technique tackle 1v1 most plays in pass protection. Looking back our Offensive Line was actually rather stout. If we had the 2007 starting OLine on this roster... we're potentially contending for the Division Crown.
