Not feeling Carr. I think the commentator said it best a couple minutes ago...he kind of crumbles under consistent pressure.


He's capable of being good, but I wouldn't consider him before round two.


The only qb id consider in round one is Teddy. But I'm no GM sooo..

They both  played in similar offenses in college that often hinders the transition to an NFL offense  -  and some believe Carr has some issues handling pressure from pass rushers as Gabbert did in college and still does in the pros. Those are the only similarities I'm aware of between Mizzou Gabbert and Carr. 

He actually does remind me a lot of gabbert the Missouri tiger. Lots of fades off of fake screens, quick slants, hitches, quick screens, one or two read plays from the spread. Throws fading away a lot (due to pressure mostly) but still he will have pressure in the NFL. Good arm, size, and athleticism plus good touch on his deep ball. But can be wildly inaccurate if he perceives pressure.


Color me unimpressed. But maybe he could develop if we got him in a later round. I don't think he is worth a second rounder, if it is between him and BAP.

In other words, pass on him since we don't want someone we have to sit and wait on for several years. It'd be different if we had a Tom Brady that was gonna retire in the next few years. Pass on this bum.

Do not want(for anything higher than a 3rd round pick).

Listen, if we're going to get a franchise qb for the next four years, and waste a first-round pick on him, he needs to be somebody who absolutely obliterates and put on clinics against college defenses; ala the newtons, lucks, manziels. Because even they have a steep learning curve in the NFL. 

I dunno...These small school guys scare me. They are amazing pickups in the late rounds, but for the first pick? no, no, no. I just wonder how different people would look at Carr if he'd have played in the Pac-12, and been going against the USCs, Oregons, and Stanford defenses week in and week out.

Yes, Carr needs to work on his footwork...we already knew that, and despite what today looks like it has gotten significantly better since that year. The rest of his package is great. Still a top pick.

I was expecting a show today.  Disappointing!

Not going to comment on Gabbert's progression from college to his stint here so far. But I think what most people fear when watching this kid is his play under duress, which I think contributes to his poor footwork more than just bad technique which we could possibly coach out of him.


You are correct in saying that Fresno has no players that could start for USC. However I think it's obvious that he has left many throws on the field today. Throws that should have been made. But hey maybe it's just a bad game


However, I personally think that if you combine his lack of footwork and mechanics under duress, and the offense he plays in, we may have some problems. For example if you watch a lot of the plays on his his highlight reel they appear to come from double moves, fake screen and go's, and very basic spread offense concepts that require very little eye progression and looking off defenders, or being able to manipulate the pocket to get to a third and fourth read while applying above factors. but that's my opinion, I think this guy will struggle doing those things and still be able to throw the ball accurately, confidently, and consistently. I also will add that those things are what have impressed me the most with bridgewater in the past. Which is why I think he has an easier transition, just my opinion though.

Bad footwork, poor ball placement, crumbles under pressure, plays bad against good defences, and bad bloodline he is not going to be a good qb And will not be a round 1 pick unless a team reaches or trades up. Jaguars will pick a mobile qb so no teddy the qb pick will be brotles or manziel in round 1 or 2.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Teddy is definitely the #1 QB in the class, but I also give Carr and Bortles top 10 grades as well and strongly hope that the Jags take one of them when on the clock if Teddy is off the board.

I've watched about half his games since midpoint in season so no he plays bad against good defences just like geno and he hasn't played against much pressure so he's looked good until it mattered today when it counted them most bowl games r very telling of how a player will be at the next lvl that and senior bowl week
