Quote:Signed our very own double standard,

Justin Blackmon
I got a chuckle -  but he's losing a significant amount of money and his level of play was so much greater than Mincey's it spoils the comparison quite a bit.
Quote:Let's see. Justin Blackmon is being held accountable for his issues.

So is Mincey.

Feel free to explain how this is a double standard again? Do you even understand what that term means?
Main Entry: double standardFunction: nounDate: 1894 1 : bimetallism 2 : a set of principles that applies differently and usually more rigorously to one group of people or circumstances than to another ; especially : a code of morals that applies more severe standards of sexual behavior to women than to men

Both are being held accountable for repeat issues. But one receives a more harsh punishment than the other because of his star status and potential. One loses his job. The other remains employed but suspended.

Unemployment doesn't equal employment. Are those equal punishments to you?

It happens all the time around the league, not just the Jaguars. The scrub backup player gets to be made an example of while the star player gets chance after chance after chance.

Do you dispute that?

The difference might be disease vs attitude.

Quote:Not just the weight of the contract; but also the weight of the player.  Mincey was getting fat, slow, and ineffective.  Thanks for the good times, Mince.

Yet he had 2 sacks compared to Tysons 1.5 yet he got paid much less Andre Branch as 4 sacks... isnt the job to sack the QB at DE?
Quote: isnt the job to sack the QB at DE?
His job also entails actually showing up to work.  Something he continually failed to do.

Missing multiple meetings + contract bigger than on-field performance  =  Bye-Bye
MJD:

Quote:

“It’s a tough situation,” Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew said.    “It’s something the coaches and Gus said he felt he had to do. Obviously I’ve been around Mincey (a long time). We actually trained together coming out (of college in 2006), so we’re close.

“The way Gus has treated everybody here, it was the best for him to make the decision he felt. We’ll stick with Gus on that.”

Bradley:

Quote:Bradley said the conversation and decision were difficult, and that it didn’t involve trying to get younger players playing time.

“I think it was just how important it is to pay attention to details, do the right things,” Bradley said. “I guess if it was any statement we were trying to do everything we could to help him and get going in the right direction. I think the players felt that part of it…

“I think they trust we’re trying to do the right things and we just felt like that was the right thing for the organization.”

If you are performing way below your paycheck and cannot do the basic team things you get cut!!  Another stellar GS signing out the door...many more to go!!

The Gus Bus is a happy bus.  Full of spirit, determination, and enthusiasm.  It's a sunny place to thrive and win, but you must be onboard.

If you miss the Gus Bus, it leaves you behind, never to come back.  Jeremy Mincey is standing at the Gus Bus platform, forlorn and forgotten, while the sun sets and darkness grows.  Elsewhere, the Gus Bus bounces happily along full of light and hope.

Don't miss the Gus Bus.

Mincey slipped out the back, Jack.  Gus said "No need to be coy, Roy."

Mincey cares about one thing and one thing only right now, and that is his music career.

Sad I know.
