Quote:Sounds to me like he'll be staying in Cincinnati then. I can't see anyone paying that ask.
Agreed
Jeff Risdon believes the Jaguars must move on from Blake Bortles.   Knowing Risdon's background,  my guess is Bortles'  performance in the Jaguars-Lions game influenced his opinion substantially:

Risdon was on the chopping wood podcast the week leading up to the Jags/Lions game and he said the same thing, but I'm sure it solidified the opinion.

One thing that I recall from the time when the Lions claimed LB Thurston Armbrister off waivers from the Jaguars in early September is Jeff Risdon values the opinion of Hank Joness,  who follows the Jaguars very closely.

Quote:Honestly,,,,can't name one.

Me neither. Can anybody think of one or would Bortles be the first?
nope, just nope.

gus has kept him in there waaaay too long this year.

bench him, let him work on his stuff, use allen and henne the next three games.

time to see what allen has.

2017 ditch henne hire a vet and let all three compete

if bbint doesn't like it.......hit the trail

I'm inclined to think that Bortles has been given more than enough opportunity to show us what he can do. Well, he did show us what he can do, and it wasn't very good. The present season is a wash now thanks to keeping Bortles in there too long. Time to check out Allen and see what he can do; it's a pretty good situation (if you can call being 2-10 good, that is) to test the waters for Allen. There is little expectation of winning so there's substantially less pressure for Allen. I see little virtue in playing Henne as we know what he is; he can come in if Allen gets banged up.

So the way I see it at this point is we should treat the rest of the season like pre-season games and let our rookie quarterback get some real NFL experience with much less pressure on him. We've nothing to lose that isn't already lost.
It's interesting how many people think Blake should be given a shot at completely tearing himself down and starting from scratch going into his FOURTH season. He's had 41 starts, likely 45 going into next year.

We were tossing Blaine out of the door and he only got 27 starts. He was also 6 months younger than Blake so the "but he's only 24" argument doesn't even work.

And don't get me wrong Blaine got plenty of time, but so has Blake. He isn't the future, unfortunately.

It's not "interesting."  It's clearly because Blake managed to string together substantially more "good tape" than Gabbert did.

His good moments in his second season outshone anything Gabbert has ever managed to accomplish by miles.

Gabbert's performance in Jax was so bad in fact that comparing the two at all is a waste of time.

None of this is assuming Bortles can be fixed. It's a longshot for sure.  But if you find it "interesting" that Blake is getting consideration when BG didn't, then you must have forgotten just how bad Gabbert was.

Goes in line with wanting Henne to start.

Has it really been that long ago that we saw that bad football those QBs played?

Bortles is playing bad. But as bad as he is.. I still take him over certain QBs.
