Quote:This will be a very exciting offseason.
I do thing we will have a big signing, one that actually requires a real press conference, lol.
I am also excited about 10 draft picks. 10 is a lot. I can see Caldwell using one or both of our extra 5th rounders to move up in the 3rd or 4th round to get a guy that "dropped" that they really like - someone with starter material, like a Gratz (they said Gratz was the last corner they thought had what it takes to be a starter in last year's draft).
Obviously Mack and Orakpo are the best guys for us - both young enough and both fill positions of need - guys that have been pro-bowlers. I can see them outbidding someone for their services.
I think this is spot on here
Another thing to consider - we have a ton of cap space...
hear me out, but this is a hypothetical:
We don't sign Arakpo...
Jay Cutler becomes a free Agent.
Jags draft a developmental QB later (like a Mettenberger, Murray) and sign Jay Cutler to a front-loaded 2 or 3 year deal. Give him a ton of bonus money to come play for 2-3 years - by then we may have our QB groomed behind him.

Not a bad idea but I think Cutler is looking for more of a long term deal and I don't think the jags will give him that
He's a good starter - but nowhere near elite. He's gonna be 31... Yes, he's going to get a good deal somewhere, but I really don't think he deserves a huge long-term deal.
Maybe a 4-year deal. I would take him in a heartbeat. It would give us a chance at the playoffs each year I think.
Jaguars are trying to build for the future, we are drafting a QB and he will be the starter week 1. Cutler isnt an option.

Cutler can play at least 5 more years at a high level. Being 30 or 31 as a QB isn't old by any means.
And I addresed us building for the future - by drafting a qb like Mettenberger or Murray.
Jags might sign a veteran QB, but it won't be Cutler. He will want to go to a team a little bit closer to a championship. Texans, hopefully, are first in line.
He'll go to whoever offers him the most money, like pretty much every single FA.
It's clear what the 3 biggest areas of need are on this team.
1. QB
2. Offensive Line
3. Defensive Line
With 10 draft picks and a ton of cap space it should be able to be fixed in one offseason.
