Branch, a second-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft from Clemson, struggled in the preseason and early in the regular season. But through 13 games he is second on the team with four sacks and is behind only end Jason Babin and tackle Sen’Derrick Marks with 16 quarterback hurries.
While Bradley has talked often about Branch’s effort level improving since being challenged early in the season, defensive line coach Todd Wash said there’s more to the development. “His skill level and fundamentals have improved so much,” Wash said. “As a pass rusher, he was more of a finesse guy and a one-trick pony. He’s really started to develop a second move and he has a decent third move that’s starting to develop also. I just think he has played a lot more and has some confidence.
He’s maturing. He’s not a Hall of Famer yet, and his maturity has gotten better.” Branch, who rushes predominately from the right side as the backup “Leo” end/linebacker behind Babin, ranks 11th in the NFL in pressures from the right side according to Pro Football Focus.
“He understands what we expect and he has confidence now,” Wash said. “We have confidence in him. He has confidence in himself. That was a lot of it. He sees himself as a good player now. That goes a long way.”

Quote:Another sack today. He is most dangerous when he stunts and rushes from different locations multiple times. Good to see.

Quote:There's one absolute thing about Andre Branch, and that's that when he locks onto the QB and you don't block him he's going to get a sack.
He's a non-stop force. Even if he'll never be a four down guy, he's a perfect fit at the LEO spot.
Quote:When he locks onto the QB and isn't blocked? I would hope he gets the sack. You would hope, but how many times have we watched a LB not named Daryl Smith knife back there, only to have the QB step into the pocket and have them completely whiff, sliding in the backfield?
In all seriousness, it's great they've found what he does well. Hopefully he develops more.

I like that Andre Branch doesn't do that for the most part. That's what I meant

Quote:They are moving him all around and finding spots for him to attack.at the speed the prosinksi was running down there completely unblocked and untouched I think any of us could have got away from that tackle by doing exactly what manuel did, just taking a step forward, lol He was going so quick there was no way he could have made the adjustment that quick and the angle he had to take removed any chance of him getting the adjustment, That's what I've liked about cyp when he comes in on the blitz, If you look closely, he kinda slows down right before he gets there so he can make last second adjustments, It's not much, but it's enough that he doesn't completely miss.
I agree with Jagwired in that he actually locks onto the QB and tracks him down properly when unblocked instead of whiffing constantly as we have seen from our Jags lineman in the past. Its not something every D-lineman can do with consistency and as Prosinski showed its even tough for quick secondary players to rock the QB in the backfield cleanly.
