Quote:The thing that baffles me, is how is Villanova rated ahead of Creighton when Creighton absolutely smoked them twice.
It's all irrelevant until March anyway.
Even though they are in the same conference now, I think Creighton is still looked at as a "mid major" and that is held against them.
Florida win's the regular conference title last night without even playing. Arkansas beats Kentucky in OT to hand them that.
The SEC as a whole is down, but the possibility of going undefeated in regular season conference play is pretty impressive.

It is impressive but I look at all these close games Florida is playing against mediocre competiiton and wonder how they will fare in the tournament. They should be a #1 seed though.

The old adage of "good teams win the close ones" holds true more times then not.
You get the same argument from the other side all the time as well. Teams who coast through the regular are always questioned on how they will do in the playoffs, or national title game when/if they are challenged.

That's why we have the tournament and why it's the best postseason in sports.
Wichita State gets Mighty Evansville in the 1st round of their conference tourney.
FSU is still alive! If they beat Syracuse then I think their in. If they don't and play it close, they can still get in depending on what they do in ACC tourney.

They have to win their first round game too in the ACC tourney. And even then, they are still a bubble team.

If they lose to Syracuse I think they need 2, maybe three in the conference tournament. I still think they need a win in the tournament even if they beat Syracuse.

Read this after I posted....well said Bon
The Cats are playing in Gainesville today. I fear a sweep by Florida. They're playing really good right now and Kentucky is not. Too much youth and talent on one team for them to click consistently. They just don't play as a unified team. My brother claims it's because they need a good point guard, which is a fair assumption. But since they don't, I'm predicting Florida's D keeping Kentucky flummoxed and an 8 point win.
(sigh) Lord it pains me to write that.

Definitely a surplus of talent is Kentucky's main problem.
I just hope the ragtag bunch of scrubs that play on my Gators can keep up with UK's excessive talent...

Sarcasm noted, but talent aside, the huge span of experience between the two teams is very evident right now.

Kentucky's main problem this year was outlandish and unfair expectations.

I'll agree with that. If anything it undermines the 'one and done' philosophy. There might be seasons of success, but ultimately it will doom Kentucky's program. Calipari is a better recruiter than a coach.

You were right...it's a sweep!!

Yeah yeah...
Gators hitting on all cylinders right now. They've recently found that 3 point groove. Hitting that at a higher percentage makes them extremely tough combined with everything else that they do so well.

We will see. If they beat Syracuse and win 1 ACC tourney game then I think their in.
Tournament play, while already started for some of the smaller conferences, is getting ready to hit full stride this weekend. What does the bracket look like for the SEC?
