Why doesn't society go after the lawless gun owners with the same passion as the lawful ones?

Can ANYONE answer that?
Quote:Well, the Swiss do have those handy knives.

I have two.  One stays with me at all times.
Quote:Right. I'm sure that vetting that law abiding citizen is the answer.  "Pay no mind to the man behid the curtain...."  I'm sure the unlawful are much more trustworthy.

I love the idea of going after the people that legally own arms and torment them over looking at the root cause of crime.

It's no wonder that society has gone where it has lately..... Sad

So, legally owning a gun means you are trained and qualified?

How many legal gun owners are in prison?

I appreciate that you champion the cause, but most of us are on your team. You know that don't you?

Sure Dakota. I'll answer that. It's because every person who would dare touch a gun is a racist, supremeist, radical who is looking to unload lead into anyone who doesn't agree with the white bread, slathered with mayonaise, conservative view that a gun is anything other than a death device.  Clearly, the ones who don't use the guns for crime should never be trusted.....
Quote:Don't forget those Swatch watches!!! Those were pretty cool too!! I had one that smelled like bananas!!

Um, you were wearing it wrong.
Quote:So, legally owning a gun means you are trained and qualified?
Lawfully, yes.

If you don't like the paramaters, I suggest strongly that you get involved. Most of those evil gun owners are out to save innocent people, so maybe you should try to show them an ounce of understanding. You may rely on one of them for your life one day. Smile
On topic:  Any time a mother has to bury a child, it's sad.

I recognize that the 2nd amendment was judged by the Supreme Court to mean you have a right to own a gun, no matter what our founding fathers really meant by it.  Hell, I can even live with it, and I used to embrace it a little more fully.  I just don't think it makes our lives any better, it does not and will not decrease crime, and quite frankly, empowers 2 very annoying segments of our society: gun nuts, and gun control nuts.

Yes, I realize that guns don't kill people, people kill people.  But when they do, their weapon of choice is usually a gun.

And when they choose to kill little kids on a rampage, like they do in every society, by the way, they can kill a lot more of them when they have a gun.

The Swiss are armed to the teeth, and live okay.  The Dutch aren't, and they live okay.  It ain't the gunowners keeping the peace.

Make'em pass a test...just like you do with every other license you get.

I don't know what that means. Not trying to ... I don't know what I'm not trying.

You okay man?

I don't see anyone debating you to that degree.

Shhhh....you aren't supposed to tell!!

The Dutch are scared of the Swiss...duh!! :woot:

Your answer is zero.

Once you cross the line from being legal to illegal has zero to do with guns. It has to do with the law.

Why are these lines blurred so much? A gun is a hunk of metal. A person makes a consciounce choice to be a good guy or a bad guy.

There are no legal gun owners in prison, save for the occasional wrongly convicted, which I honestly hope finds justice and truth.

i guess you don't watch the news....

I am a convict without a crime. And why? Because I carry a gun.

You don't play the persecuted party very well. I have never called gun owners evil nor have I challenged the constitutional right to own a gun. I merely stated that just because someone owns a gun doesn't mean they know how to handle both it or life or death situations.

The mere insuination speaks for itself.

Either you trust your government or you do not. They establish the rules and regulations regarding who can and who can not can carry a weapon.

How else am I supposed to interpret your questioning of that? You said it and said it without ambiguity.

When you bought your gun, what part of the process determined your ability to deal with split second life or death situations?

Nobody is persecuting you, pal. You're not on trial here just because somebody disagrees with you. Hell, I don't think anyone in this thread has even challenged the 2nd amendment. You've blown this out of proportion going from "committing a crime doesn't remove your right to life" and "guns aren't really that big of a factor when it comes to crime rates" to "OH NO, THEY GON' TAKE AWAY MY GUNS, I'M BEIN' PERSECUTED" (exaggeration, btw).

I conced some people that own guns have no idea how to use them, there's no solution to that problem however.
