Quote:Yet, if they had won a game or two, you would be calling them equally inept for winning a couple of games which in your eyes are meaningless.

So, either way, the Jags let you down. They simply can't win with you. By your own admission now, winning is a bad thing, and now losing is also a bad thing.

Why don't you just come out and say what you're dying to say. What's stopping you?

Ummm, you misinterpret my comment - The Jags could still have a lousy record, but still be showing more improvement than they have under Bradley amongst the major team area - (DB, LB, DL, ST's, passing game/ running game/ OL,...)

They haven't because not only is Bradley looking like a weak hire but Bradley hired weak assistants. Jerry Sullivan remains the only decent assistant on the staff - (Maybe Walker, too) and this is just like Mularkey's staff where Sullivan was the Lone Ranger there too.

I'm fine with the poor record this year, but not fine with the total lack of improvement/ development all around - which is what happens when you have poor coaching.

If the Jaguars get Bridgewater we'll have a chance to contend for a playoff spot next year, that's how good I think he is. He would instantly be the 2nd best QB in the AFC South, this team is going to surprise in 2014.

I agree. He's that good.

Quote:A "solid defense" that got embarrased on national TV by Matt Ryan and Phillip Rivers.

Yes, because two games are an entire season.

The 2011 Jags shut down the Raven 'on National TV' that year. (did we really have THREE national TV games in 2011? LOL)

The 2011 Jags defense for some inexplicable reason played out of its mind, they clearly weren't a top 10 defense (talent wise) and it reared its ugly head the following season. That defense didn't have the athletes (particularly the pass rushers) to play at a high level consistently, it was the definition of a mirage.

They had good matchups and played alot of bad quarterbacks. They got Painter/Orlavsky twice with the Colts. They got TJ Yates with the Texans because Schaub was hurt. Newton in a rainstorm. Freeman was awful.

In addition to Ryan/Rivers, I remember Hasselbeck lighting up our defense at Tennessee that year. Brees also picked them apart.

Basically every good QB other than Flacco lit them up that year.
MalabarJag = we are usually in agreement on most topics, but I disagree about Mike Smith/ Atlanta....I never thought he was all that good of a DC here, and I don't think his defenses are/ or have been all that good in Atlanta , either. They have been totally exposed in the playoffs where they constantly give up big points.

Great point, this pretty much sums it up.
Lol @ people who don't understand how a rebuild works.

Where did I say anything about Mike Smith?

These are good points. The defense probably wasn't as good as it's record in 2011. Neither was it as bad as it's record in 2012.

It appears to be every bit as bad as it's record in 2013.

It seems to be to many short sighted minds looking in on this. If you knew the team would suck then how can you be upset about the coaching job. The fact that the team isn't planning mutiny is all that I need to know about Bradley's coaching style. With younger players this is the type of coach you want. He's making them seem like it's college all over again. Just go out learn your position and have fun. The last thing you want is for these guys to get disgruntled and stop focusing on the future.

Its not about the coaching style it's about the his understanding of how to coach them team. I'm pretty sure if he wanted to come in and be Coughlin-esq he could and everybody would be suit and tie all the time, fined for not being 5 minutes early and what not. He realizes that young players of this generation are different. Keep the swag on the team. Seattle had tons of it. Coach them to be cocky and look up not think business minded all the time.

This is how I see it anyway.

Instant success, just add (Bridge)water?

7 wins next year at the worst is a tall lift for this team since we'd have a rookie QB and holes that will have just been filled with more rookies. I think you're on drugs. We don't even have our schedule for next year yet.

In no particular order, the schedule will be:

@Indy

Indy

@Tenn

Tenn

@Hou

Hou

Giants

Eagles

Cowboys

Redskins

Bengals

Ravens

Steelers

Browns

Raiders

Either Bills or Dolphins
We're not using that cap space... don't you think that for one minute.... Shad doesn't have to used the cap space if the fans still come to the stadium week afer losing week....

We have proven to the NFL that we will pay to watch a losing horrible product. SMH

If you think Khan is happy with the product on the field, you don't know Khan.

Hate to disagree, but this team is so devoid of talent across the board it's simply impossible for anyone to turn it around in one season.  Not even Peyton Manning in his prime could make this a playoff contenter.

IF you get Bridgewater, hopefully hit on your 2nd and 3rd rounders and get decent starters, maybe pick up a few mid-priced free agents, then I think the team is at least competitive.  Rookies continue to develop and you're looking at a 4-12 season.

That's based on a lot of what-ifs.  IF you get the 1st pick, get lucky with your draft picks, and yes - get some better talent at the scout level and assistant coaches.  Gus is sticking around, but he didn't get cream of the crop assistants because of the turmoil in Jax.

Everything about this team needs to be upgraded..
This team isn't losing games they are getting annihilated. Before we can start even thinking about winning 7+ games we have to make strides just to be in them. Drafting a franchise QB is only a start, there is just so much this team needs. We probably will have the # 1 overall pick next year, we HOPEFULLY will be competitive but inexperience and rookie mistakes will be to big a hurdle.
