It will be intresting to see what Ozzie got for McKinnie if its a 4th or a 5th, then he really just schooled Caldwell since we got a 4th and a 5th for Monroe who is way younger and better then Mckinnie and I believe if we shopped Monroe we couldve gotten a better deal.
imagine if we actually shopped around monroe, especially when theres a needy team like miami. i wonder who wouldve won the bidding war.

The compensation won't be anywhere near what they got for Monroe.

I read on NFL.com that it is expected to be something akin to a conditional late rounder. Miami must be really desperate if they were willing to send draft picks for McKinnie.

Thats because Jonathan Martin is god awful.

Is this myth really still out there?
Oehser reported weeks ago that Caldwell spoke with "several" teams about Monroe and took the best offer.

i did say imagine.

I remember reading some hype about him that he was going to be the best Left Tackle out of that class -- 2012 -- even better than Kalil. It's amazing how the hype train can really get rolling on some guys.
I remember seeing Martin pre-draft and thinking he didn't look like an NFL offensive lineman. He looked soft and that is how he has played.
It's a conditional 6th or 7th rounder, and Baltimore is paying 100% of the salary...but by all means...

Yep....or had we actually waited until, you know.....closer to the actual trade deadline rather than jumping at one of if not the first offers....

What we know. Caldwell was not shopping Monroe. Baltimore called him. He said the offer was fair. He said it happened quickly. I'm not sure how much shopping he did.
There's a potential added benefit for Baltimore that comes to mind. The Dolphins still have the Bengals, Steelers, Chargers, Patriots, and Jets on their schedules. All of these teams are potentially in competition with the Ravens for a playoff spot. Based on the Ravens having the head to head Wildcard tiebreaker with the Dolphins, it's probably to their advantage that the Dolphins win most of these games.

I remember Caldwell said the Ravens called him about Monroe he wasnt shopping him, It was another team was reported to have made an offer but it wasnt as good as the Ravens deal and Caldwell pulled the trigger on the Ravens deal instead of waiting it out for a bidding war, after the trade the other team came out and said they wouldve offered more, rather thats true that they would have or not we dont know.

If you believe Oehser - he stated on the radio (and in the o-zone) that Caldwell spoke to "several" teams. He said that in direct response to someone saying that Caldwell hurt the value by not shopping Monroe enough.
So he either knows more than you - or he's lying.

Yup.
I don't think Martin is a terrible football player...he just never should have been shifted to the left side. He should be a RT.
McKinnie is coming back home. Maybe that will light a fire under him...it's happened before. He has the switch, he's just lazy I guess.
Monroe wasn't coming back here. Getting value was good enough. Caldwell didn't get "schooled" on anything.

I listened to Caldwells interview. He said the trade came together very quickly and wasn't his idea. It seemed rushed. Not sure how he got a true sense of Monroe's worth in 2 days.

No, it isn't good enough. We still don't know what Monroe's true value was.
