Quote:i don't care what the "experts" say.  The "experts"also said Gabbert was going to be the first pick in the draft.  Who cares what the experts say?

Don't even act like Stafford and Bradford weren't extremely hyped coming out of college.

Having a hard time keeping up?

The person they compare Andrew Luck to, didn't even lead his team to a .500 record his rookie season.
Are you seriously throwing Matt Stafford under the bus?

He's had a 5000 yd, 41 TD season, followed by a 4967 yard season the next year.

Detroit currently sits at 4-2, and he has led the Lions to one of their few playoff appearances over the last 50 years.

No I am not at all.

I think Stafford is an elite talent and a very good QB and would take him on this team in an absolute heart beat.  I said that earlier.

My point was just because you get the first pick in the draft doesn't mean instant success.  Is that not accurate?  Also TMD was acting like Stafford wasn't that highly regarded coming out and he was.
@ Bullseye

Quote:I am not acting like Stafford is a bad QB.  I didn't mean to imply that.  I think Stafford is really good.  But he has lead his team to one playoff appearance.

If we get Bridgewater the same thing could happen.  We could have a really good QB and still not make the playoffs.
I tried to pick up Williams in my fantasy but he is not available. Maybe next week. Always had a soft spot for fast tall receivers.
Stafford is not elite. Heck the backup looked elite with CJ.

My apologies for premature posting (insert joke here).

I posted before I saw your clarification.

Do you think Gabbert would look elite with Calvin Johnson to throw to?

Are you related to CT Jags? (TealTimeRadio).... you have to be.....

where the hell did I act like Stafford wasn't highly regarded? He was a 1st overall pick.

:yucky:
Derek Cox represents more than a player to the Jags.  He represents big part of the Gene Smith era and the extreme vocal supporters that backed every move that Gene made (claiming he was one of the top GMs in the league and would be hightly sought after if he ever chose to leave the Jacksonville organization.

The 5 most debated topics (in no particular order) in the Gene Smith era were the following:

* Alualu selection in the top 10 -- instead of trading down

* Cox - trading a 2nd rounder to get an extra 3rd round pick to get him before Belichik got him -- HA!!

* Podlesh - 4th round

* Anger - 3rd round

* Gabbert - trading up and giving up a 2nd rounder.
Blackmon's physical style is going to abuse Cox's finesse game. I can easily see a slant turning into a gnarly stiff arm ala Blackmon vs the Saints in the preseason. I would have Blackmon run slants. hitches to the inside , and crossing routes all day and let him beat up on Cox in the short range.

Also make sure Blackmon finds him and lays some of his blocks(which are underrated BTW) on him in the running game. By the 4th quarter he will be either injured or getting burned repeatedly.

Quote:Really?  Care to name someone other than Andrew Luck?

How about Cam Newton?  How about Matt Stafford?  Sam Bradford anyone?  Didn't the Redskins pick number 2 and go to the playoffs also?

Sorry I just don't see Andrew Luck when I watch Teddy Bridgewater.

I dont either.  I see Teddy Bridgewater.

I imagine he would look the same.

That's hilarious!
Derek Cox did a great job stopping Brandon Marshall last year. On the flip side, Blackmon puts himself in a better whenever the ball is thrown his way. Henne probably targets him all day regardless of the situation with Shorts likely out and Cox ends up with his 2nd INT of the year. Blackmon also ends up with at least 80 yards and 6 catches though.

Didn't Marshall have like 10 receptions for 160 yards or something like that?

12 for 144 now that I checked. My memory sucks, I thought Cox held his own pretty well but I don't care enough to go double check.

Did you actually watch that game?

Stopping him from what?  Breaking receiving records? From leaving the building without his autograph? From getting a paper cut?
I can't remember if Cox played them all, or not. But, last year was a stretch of top WR that had an easy time of the Jags secondary. Marshall, AJ Green, Calvin Johnson.
