Who knows what the first warning sign will be? It could be anything.
What to look at most is:
#1. How he does in the draft, especially with first rounders.
#2. How he trades in the draft -- does he trade away the future for now, when the team isn't ready to be successful? Does he trade up for players who would have slipped?
#3. How he handles re-signing players. Does he let all of our players go so he can replace them with cheaper lower quality players? Does he give big contracts to players who had one good year?

But don't focus on specifics here, remove Saban from the equation if you need to.....trying to illustrate a point.

Looking at Monroe in shorts at the OTAs doesn't show whether or not the guy will cut block when the pads go on, so the idea that he had all this time to evaluate and move him before the draft doesn't fly. You also keep insinuating that they didn't get good value and that's pure speculation on your part. So, in effect, you are CHOOSING to see the trade as bad when you have no factual proof that it is. Point of fact, the Cardinals trade for for their left tackle contributes some evidence that Caldwell got good value in return for Monroe.
If he drafts a long snapper with the 1st pick.

If he drafts Alualu cousin with the 1st. pick in the draft, Byson Afuafu....I'd know for sure he needs to be gone.

I think it is safe to say, Bradley will be the coach next season. I don't even think Caldwell will think about firing him. Even if they go 0-16.
I think if Caldwell tries to start inducing Free Agents to Jacksonville by offering Teal Deal books, it may be a sign that he is in over his head.

All I said was it was ironic. Nothing more, nothing less. If I am being honest, I think Tomlin is supremely overrated. Which sounds silly for a guy that won a Super Bowl and played for another. But he was handed a talented roster and arguably the best defensive coordinator the league has seen. What players have improved under his watch? He's basically Jack Del Rio with a great QB.
