Don't be ridiculous.

He'll report that the Browns would have given us the 1st rounder they got from the Colts for him.
Quote:This was my stance last year. I was against tanking at the end bigtime. This year ? Not so much. I see what it did for the colts and whether the QB we draft turns out to be great or not it's our best chance to pick him #1 .. We need that # 1 pick!!!!!!

I will always want my team to win as many games as possible regardless. Win one maybe two and I'm happy if we really are in tank mode. We wouldn't go defeated but are still in prime position for a franchise QB.

<p class="">And no one should feel sorry for Dwight Lowery. His 2013 salary is guaranteed, and he can double dip by signing elsewhere
Lowery was a damn good player for us. I wish him the best of luck elsewhere.

Well sucks to see him go...but he just can't stay on the field
I'm excited for Evans. Awesome opportunity for him to entrench himself as the starter and get more reps this season since it is all a learning experience for the rest of the young secondary. As for Lowery, someone (I think it was Allen) was quoted as saying availability matters just as much as ability, which is the case here especially as Evans has made some good plays to show that Lowery is expendable.

This is 2 fold . Lowery can go somewhere and have a chance to play as a starter elsewhere and Evans gets starting time with Cyprien. Given how Evans has played im more than cool with it.

That's a little premature, IMO.  While it makes sense to go with Evans in a meaningless season and let him get up to speed - he hasn't really shown me anything but the potential to be really good at some point.  He's made some tackles - but in general seems a step or two slow in his reaction to the play most of the time.  That'll get better - but I'm curious what these good plays are you've seen.  I've only seen him actually defend one pass so far.

(I'm excited too, just haven't really seen it yet)

Injury settlement, but those typically don't happen during the season unless the player thinks he's healthy enough to sign elsewhere and play.

Lowery won't be back, even if Evans isn't the answer. Aging and slow by DB standards.
Quote:theres another draft choice we won't be getting/ trade we won't be making...... smh

Wow... you're such a giant tool.  I bet you were an ugly baby.

We should have traded him for JJ Watt I guess?

well put.  I don't agree with the mark long tweet that no one should feel sorry for him.  the man played well for us when he was healthy, but isn't anymore.  i'm not overly concerned about him playing football again, that is his choice, but it seems that decision will impact his general health for the rest of his life.  a few more time getting his bell rung and he won't be the same in 5 to 10 years.
If Lowery doesn't get picked up by another team, or chooses to end his career because of potential long term concussion effects, he should find Golden Tate and drop kick him in the nuts.

Yes. ^

Rookies are always a little late because they spend too much time thinking. Like you said Evans has shown his potential, he just needs to get experience so he can just react; instead of think, then react.
I mentioned it earlier on another post, but the trade of Eugene Monroe opened up an additional 2 million or so on our salary cap this year.  I speculated that another cut/trade could be coming as a result.  This makes sense.  You had better believe that if we had cap room this year that Poz, Mincey, Lewis, and maybe Allen would be gone.  They're allowing Babin to play because his contract is guaranteed this season and we neither save nor lose money.

I think we still are on the hook for Monroe's salary.

Lol yeah, duhh. I forgot. We only saved like 750k or so I think iirc.

Yeah because Caldwell is a genius!

It's not quite that simple. The Ravens are assuming around 600k of his salary. The remainder of his salary will be paid by the Jaguars in the form of a bonus. That will count against their cap this year. What the move also did was allow the team to move some earned bonus money slated to count against the 2014 for the Jaguars to the 2013 cap.
