the question was sincere, and another I would have is,

How was Khan able to go from "homeless" to going to expensive college and gaining a masters degree??

Quote:You disagree that the Jags were "competitive" in the Rams and Raiders games?

Both were road games, and one was decided by 10 points, and the other game had the Jags in the lead for a good portion of the game.

Well if you consider being down 27-13 in the 4th quarter of the Rams game and 19-3 in the 4th quarter of the Raiders game after 3 quarters of complete ineptitude then we definitely have different definitions of competitive.

At halftime both games were competitve.

You are picking an arbitrary point of the game with a score that best suits your side of the argument, i,e, cherry picking.
Quote:It saddens me greatly that there are hundreds of thousands of people and children living like this and the masses haven't a clue.

It isn't a judgment, and I'm sure your wonderment is genuine.

There is a whole culture of homeless people, some the type you think about from the movies, many who aren't and just hope to maintain some dignity while praying for their next meal.

Crazy stuff. If you know any of those people, or were once one of "them" yourself, you can appreciate Shad that much more.

I was one of those people. When I was 17 I lived in an abandoned building. It took me 8 years working 2 menial jobs but I managed to graduate college and have a successful corporate career.

So, if your definition is close at halftime, we certainly have different definitions of competitive.

Yeah, a friend of mine was kicked out by her step-father when she was 16 years old.  Another friend of mine lived on the streets after she ran away from home and had nowhere to go.  Picking yourself back up is hard to do.

Mr. Khan is an impressive individual.  Right now the Jags are taking what they can get.  But one day, just like their owner, they will rise to the top.  And we'll have all been along for the ride.

Well that is the hope anyway. Ideally this happens while the Jags are still in Jacksonville and not in (insert town here i.e. London/ LA/ St Louis/ etc etc)

Sleeping at the Y for a few days awaiting for the dorms to open a the University of Illinois is far from homeless.

Heck, I followed the Grateful Dead for a while ... I guess one could consider me homeless.

Yeah, thats kinda what I was thinking regarding the first sentence....
Quote:its ok, he will get the last laugh come draft
the draft doesnt gurantee wins tho look at last year. He have to draft the right players..
Homeless? No. But far from an ideal situation.

We had a good draft this year and next year we have 10 picks and draft our QB.  Of course you have to draft good players, I trust in Caldwell to give us a good draft again.

Not having $10 to stay in a hotel but getting a free ride to the University of Illinois.   Got to love the good ole USA.   I actually had to pay to go to college.  Imagine that.

I think we can all relate to those situations when we were teenagers when we had to suck it up for a while and deal with nothing .... at least I did.

Minority groups with not a lot of money get massive scholarships if theyre smart, which Khan obviously was/is.

Not to get into politics too much, but its hilarious how people like you complain about less fortunate people going to school for free, and if they didnt you would call them lazy bums and tell them to go find an actual job.

Glad I dont live in Florida where these type of people run amuck.
