Way Too Early for this...

Quote:For what we traded away to get him.... Yes he does, 2nd rd. pick to move up 10 spots.

5 - 27 record as a starter

1.8 QBR last week

2.4 QBR this week

When they show pics of biggest NFL QB BUSTS...Gabby's pic will be amongst Leaf, Russell, Carr, Couch, Gabbert
Heath Shuler, Tim Couch, and JaMarcus all went 1st overall.

In our own state, we've seen such gems as Ken Dorsey, Gino Toretta, Danny Weurfell, Steve Walsh, Danny Kannell (great analyst, by the way), the enigma that is Rex Grossman, and Shane Matthews.

But ESPN is sure glad to see that you youngsters have bought so heavily into their manufactured QBR ratings.

I saw Heath Shuler play.  I saw Mirer play.  I saw Browning Naegle play.  And these are just guys off the top of my head.

I also saw Eli, Vinny, and Trent play.  They were all terrible, until they got better.  It took Vinny and Trent a while, by the way.  I'm interested to see what happens with Blaine.  And all you losers want us to lose anyway, so...

What have you got to lose?
OMG, I just remembered Todd Marinovich and Bubby Brister.

He is the worst QB I ever seen play that was a teams starter

We'll get a new qb next year so until then find something else to do with your time instead trying to make a gabbert sucks thread every single darn day.
This
Gabbert is the worst starter in the history of any sport.

Lol you really gonna bring up guys who were mid round picks?

Read the title.

And Quincy Carter.  And the guy whose name shall not be mentioned nor should ever be associated with the Jags because he can't throw a forward pass despite once winning a playoff game.

I was reading the post your quoted which was talking about biggest busts

Fair enough.

Ever heard of a guy named Parnell Dickinson?  He started 8 games for the Bucs. He went 15 of 39 for 210 yards with 1 TD and 5 picks.

In that year (1977), the Bucs also started Randy Hedberg. For those too lazy to click on the link, he threw 0 TDs and 10 picks.

Reading about the first 2 Tampa Bay seasons makes me realize just how far this team has to go to achieve that level of futility.

This.

Quote:A really bad QB who only plays a handful of games (like Ryan Leaf) has less negative impact on his team than a poor to mediocre player who camps out in the starter position for several years. A couple of years ago Joey Harrington was the worst QB by that standard. I'm not sure if any of the more recent failures like Gabbert have exceeded Harrington's negative impact, but Gabbert has started and lost a lot of games, so he's probably near the bottom.

If one also factors in salary and cap room, JaMarcus Russell might be the all-time worst.

This...

You guys are such kids.

And this.

Seriously guys? He sucks. Got it. We all can realize and admit that at this point. Even so, there are far too many bad ones and for all the games he has lost, he's only played 2 years. 2 years he's not even started all of the games because of health issues. 28 games I think has been said at this point? Yeah... There are poor backups that have started as many or more games in their careers and been less than below average.

Admittedly there have been a lot of really bad NFL quarterbacks. Most of the lower draft picks and undrafted free agents are way worse than Gabbert. Spergon Wynn was a memorable disaster for the Browns.

But I'm pretty sure the OP intended the discussion to be QBs drafted with the expectation of them becoming franchise QBs. When you draft a QB in the 7th round, it's no great loss if he stinks.

Speaking of Jonathan Quinn, Gabbert reminds me a lot of him. Intelligent, strong arm, decent foot speed, but no pocket presence or field vision. Drafting a player like that is worth a shot in the later rounds, not trading up to get him in round 1.

This just in... Matt Flynn continues to make millions by being rejected.

Cut this evening by the Raiders. Dude will have made $20 million or so in 2 years with 1 start. He signed a new deal after being traded to the Raiders that included just over $5mil guaranteed.

There's a bust for you, no matter what round he was drafted in. 2 years, 2 teams, significant guaranteed money, draft picks, and a total of 1 start and twice rejected.

Unfortunately, I don't think it is.
i'd take leftwich over Gabbert. OH YES I WENT THERE.

Quote:i'd take leftwich over Gabbert. OH YES I WENT THERE.
Leftwich wasn't that bad. He was just mediocre. Blaine isn't even that.
The problem with lumping those guys 20+ years ago in, is that the NFL is far far far more QB/pass friendly than it use to be.

He has been bad, but I am not too disappointed we took a shot on him. He helped get Gene out of here, and we drafted him in 2011 thank goodness, so he was cap friendly. Look, that turned out to be a not so great year for Quarterbacks. Newton, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder, Dalton. All sort of meh. Kaepernick was the 6th one. Then Then Mallett, Stanzi ... well, nuff said. He was high risk, high-reward, and it hasn't panned out. If he goes at the end of the year we really will not have been hurt too bad compared to many alternatives,

How many of the QB's you spouted off were TOP 10 picks in the 1 st. RD. ? Actually Vinny and Trent actually had nice stats in college....BLaine was a scrub in college with 16 TD passes in a spread offense, and he continuing his scrubbery ways in the NFL. The NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG and Gabby's career will be that way.
