WOW...
Quote:Too bad Ratso didn't have something like that
Who is Ratso and why did he need one?

Interesting that the picture shows a woman. I thought Joeckel got it because he is too big for crutches.
Quote:I did a search for career ending ankle injuries but couldn't find anything.

If there is one, it would be a tendon or ligament tear, not a bone fracture. However, running back Garrison Hearst was almost forced to retire because of a condition that Bo Jackson had (I can't remember the name) in his ankle. Basically, something happens that prevents blood from getting to the injured bone. I had never heard of that before it happened to Hearst, who had multiple surgeries and was the only two-time Comeback Player of the Year. That is the closest any player came to retiring because of a bone in his ankle being damaged.

Quote:Nothing to see here. A lot of other things to worry about.

Actually there is something to see here: a lesson about accepting adversity. I have new admiration for Luke Joeckel because he called his injury "just a bump in the road." I think all of us can learn something about life by reading that line.

Garrison Hearst only won it once. The player you're thinking of was Chad Pennington. He won the AP Comeback Player of the Year twice.

Unless you're referring to the Pro Football Weekly award, but the AP awards are really the only ones that matter.

Im with you TMD. What that tells me is that his ankle/leg/hip/ and possibly both arms are severely injured and the odds of him ever walking or waving again are slim. Nothing gets past the old noggin, we can see right through those half truths.

Nope, I do not have my players mixed up. When Hearst won it because of his ankle problem, I read he was the first player to win CPOTY twice.

When Chad Pennington won it, I thought the AP should have changed the award name to Comeback TEAM of the Year because it is a lot more important that the Saints returned to the Superdome.

Back to Luke Joeckel: Has anyone said yet if he will have an MRI when the swelling goes down?
