Quote:The issue lies within several different areas. We cannot continue to change coachong staff members year after year. That is one of our issues. Another is the play on the OL. The way that they're playing, no QB could be successful. The play calling is hindered by the forementioned but it's dismal at best. This must improve. The LB position needs to be revamped at all positions. They played awful today...
All Said, it's a joint effort...
NH3...
Either way we will have a new QB. What harm would it do?
Plenty of offenses have success in their first season. You don't necessarily HAVE TO keep this current offense "just because". If it stinks, it stinks.
Quote:Draft Bridgewater then hire Bobby Petrino to be our OC. Throw co-eds at him if you have to
I endorse this post
His college offense sucks and it wont work in the NFL. Bush league. Take that crud back to MIAMI!!!!!!
Quote:Am I the only one who laughed in delightful frustration about 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter when Gabbert tossed a sweep to MoJo that was read like a cheap novel and resulted in loss of yards? So what did Jedd Fisch do? He fooled everyone by running the same play - but with Todman instead of MJD. The man is brilliance personified.
Every defense knows exactly what we are going to run. The reason they didn't in preseason is because they don't study gamefilm on the opponents.
Quote:Except he doesnt do that.
Except he does. It's noticeable, and someone on this board even copied and pasted all of the 2nd and 9+ runs to MJD he does from a recent game. It's laughable.
O'Halloran even tweeted out that a veteran in the locker room was wondering why MJD got so many 2nd and long carries today.

I get the feeling that Veteran was MJD :whistling:

Was thinking the same thing.

I don't think MJD would ever
not want the ball, so I doubt it was him.
I was behind the Jaguars bench today. MJD had the sourest look on his face I have ever seen on an NFL player. Most of the players looked angry, embarassed or both. MJD looked like a kid who got grounded by his parents. I would bet most of the team won't be too upset when he's gone.

If he puts on the helmet he looks just like Ladanian Thomlinson sitting on that bench.

He ran a pro style offense in college that put up a decent amount of points, but ok. Imagine what could have been if Bridgewater didn't decommit and go to Louisville
Quote:Dude, it's way too early to pass judgment on this guy. Seriously... Vic said it for years. "Players, not plays," "Football is a game of replacement." We're seeing this play out now. Our offense is a disaster because our line is terrible. I love Meester, but we should've drafted his replacement 3 years ago. Uche hasn't been healthy and hasn't looked stellar when he has been and RACKLEY. IS. AWFUL. Monroe is a decent LT, but we have a rookie on the right that is still learning the pro game.
Let's not forget to mention that our best WR is still suspended until Tuesday and we played with a patchwork of other wideouts with Brown has been nicked up. Jeremy Ebert dropped a decent pass today that could've gone for a few yards. Let's get back to full strength before we axe the play caller.
Oh, and Gabbert's awful. Awful. He's like that train wreck you can't take your eyes off of, especially in the 2nd half when he started ducking and running for his life. The kid's got a cannon for an arm, but he has ZERO intangibles. No leadership, no pocket presence, no feel for the blitz. Awful.
LOL. So it
must be true.
I agree with everything else in your post, though.
I wouldn't be upset if we replaced Fisch. I know we have turrible roster, but the playcalling hasn't impressed at all. There hasn't been a single impressive drive or even a play so far.
At 12:40 in the 3rd we ran the spread on that drive and hit the red zone in like 3 or 4 plays. The majority of the game we return to the QB under center resulting in no production. I understand we lack talent, but you use the talent you have in a way that generates the best return. I don't see that being done. So part of the problem lies with the offensive coaching on how to use the talent we have...
We really need a coordinator/qb coach who can develop a QB. No more one-year wonders with gimmicky offenses. Maybe we can clone Andy Reid

You can't polish a turd

as in LaDanian Tomlinson -right now-,....as in DONE.
Stick a fork in MoJo. 2.0 YPC is ridiculous for a starting RB in this league.

....we could have tried to
hire Andy Reid in the offseason - but we decided to be the one team out of EIGHT openings that hired a defensive minded head coach.
I didn't see "Corn" in the Poll.....
The thing is, the OC should be calling plays to the strengths of the players he has around him. Gabbert has always been most successful in shotgun and 3 receiver sets generally. Where's the up-tempo play calling we saw in pre-season that he seemed so comfortable with? Also not to mention the pretty much zero involvement of Robinson up to this point.
Not only is this play calling atrocious, but Gabbert looked uncomfortable on pretty much every play. They keep saying they want him to play to his strengths.... well then how about a little bit more creative calling than run-run-screen-punt. You can't even blame a lot of the screens on him checking down since they're designed quick screens from the start.
Hopefully it changes with Blackmon coming back... but I doubt it.
