Quote:Prosinski has a blocked punt and 2 or 3 nice hits on ST. I don't want to see him on defense - but those stats alone should put him further down on your list.

If you notice, he moved in from outside, following the gunner initially. The blocking didn't account for him. It's not as if he has this Steve Tasker-esque knack for blocking punts.

The liability he represents defensively outweighs whatever ST benefits he has.
Quote:1. I should of added Gabbert to the list.

2. Pros is our best ST player not counting the kickers. He makes big play almost every week, this week it was a blocked punt.

3. Rackley has gotten better each week, so its too early to tell on him

4. Babin will be gone at the end of the year, we wont eat any dead money cutting him.

5. The way Alu contract is it would probably just be better off to keep him and cut him next year

2. Good special teams players are easy to find. I'm sure we could find one that does what he does on ST without being the liabiltity on defense he represents.

3. Rackley has been a huge liability on the line.
If Marcedes is not gone by next season, then Caldwell should be.

Mercedes is still on the team?

Yes. I have eyes and I saw the play. I didn't say I wanted him around next year - but having him ahead of some of those guys on your list makes no sense to me.

How many snaps has he played on defense the past two weeks? ( 3 snaps vs. Seattle) Hard to be a liability when you aren't on the field.

edit: all of that said - I wouldn't be surprised to see him replaced even during this year by a Winston Guy type...

Not as easy as you think, you don't cut your best ST player when he doesn't hardly make anything. He has been our best ST player over the last couple of years.

Rackley didnt play last year and he has impoved each week this year. He was horrible the first few weeks but this was his best week so hopefully he is wearing off his rust. Just to early to say cut him, lets see how he plays the rest of the season.

So given the physical abuse that Cyprien is likely to take playing in the box, don't you think it possible that Prosinski could see significant playing time in the future? Wouldn't you want whoever his backup is to be as little of a liability as possible? Right now, Prosinski would be that player.

Alualu at least has a sack this year, along with a decent run stop or two.

Babin is older and makes penalties, but he at least represents some semblance of a pass rush threat.

Prosinski is useless. If it makes it any better for you, Prosinski and Rackley are interchangable on my list.

1. Two words for you regarding Special teams players: Montell Owens. He was far better last year on ST than Prosinski, and he was actually a positive contributor on offense when he came into the game.

2. Rackley was awful his rookie year, didn't play last year, and has been awful this year. He's been bull rushed into QBs, he has fallen while pulling, completely missed defenders in open space, and has been a liability.

Prosinski is useless.
That's why they signed Winston Guy. He may surplant Prosinski on ST as well soon enough.

"Useless" is a silly thing to say about a guy that has made solid plays on ST - but whatever. Our opinions aren't far apart anyway.

1. Montell Owens was making about 2 or 3 mill a year also. Same with Osgood. Pros. is a role player and good teams have those guys

2. Rackley wasn't that bad towards the end of his rookie year

"Rackley dominated Haloti Ngata on Monday Night Football. Yes, you read that right. Rackley got consistent movement against one of the NFL's best defensive tackles, and followed that up with another solid effort against the Houston Texans in Week 8."
Keep Poz. He's rugged and productive.
2. Jeremy Mincey- Same with Lewis his salary jumps from 1.5 mil to 4.5 mil next year. He will cost us 4 mil. cap hit over the next 2 years in dead money or if we keep him it will be 13.5 mil cap hit over the next 2 years. He hasnt played that great either I say he needs to go also.

I would rather pay 4 million to Mincey to not play for the Jags than pay him 13.5 million to play for the Jags for the next two years. He sucks.

#1.Gabbert #2.Henne #3.Lewis#4.Alualu #5.Mincey#6.Meester#7.Babin and i would try to restructure Poz contract!

He's scheduled to make 10 MIL next season.

Keeping him would be idiotic......well, then again...so was only getting a 4th & a 5th... :ermm:

Looks like Winston Guy is now that player. Pros played 3 snaps against the seahawks.

Guy played 2 against the Rams. Pros played no D snaps vs. rams.

Poz's contract per rotoworld:

7/26/2011: Signed a six-year, $42 million contract. The deal contains $15 million guaranteed, including a $10 million signing bonus. Another $3 million is available through incentives. An annual $50,000 workout bonus is available in years two through six. 2013: $6.45 million, 2014-16: $7.45 million, 2017: Free Agent

Not idiotic at all. For what he provides on the field and in the locker room he's well worth it.

Assuming this is true and represents a move away from Prosinski, then I stand corrected on that point.

This minimizes Prosinski's token worth, however.

I would rather take that money and use it to sign Alex Mack.

I'd LOVE to have Alex Mack here as our C.

Sadly, I see no way Cleveland lets him walk.
Quote:Yes, but I've also seen Marcedes play of recent years...

maybe ever.
You're forgetting Jerry Porter. 10 mil guaranteed-11 receptions. That's nine hundred grand per catch!
