Quote:The former Penn State star was involved in 12 tackles, including five solo. He now has 31 through three games, which is good enough to lead the league.

Will Poz be back next year for us? Is Reynolds the future?

yeah, at a reduce salary

We can't have this kind of production. He needs to be shopped around.

lol things like this happens when your offense is terrible.
With our offense he will most likely get many more opportunities to tackle in future games!!

The defensive line opens wide and lets the running backs through. Somebody has to chase them down

No, more often than not it is either Poz or Allen who miss their run fits, leaving huge gaps. The line has played its part as well, but the mistakes by these two, and cyprien at times (who acts as a 4th LB), are what springs most of the long runs.

Another reason why traditional stats hold no weight at all. Poz has not played well at all against the run or in coverage. Just cause he gets a lot of tackles doesnt mean hes a good player. I wouldnt expect many of the people on this forum to understand that though.
Poz is the most overpaid player on the team. Lewis is a close 2nd.

Poz is ok, but not worth the $

poz = ball carrier magnet

What? Poz is one player who actually is consistent and makes plays..

I was going to say something to this effect.

The defense is on the field for like 40 minutes per game...I'd hope Poz would be leading in Tackles or close to it....

Disagree. Marcedes Lewis by FAR is the most overpaid/ overrated player on the team.

...and Caldwell decided that he was worthy of being one of the building blocks going forward. Scary. Better just be a blip on Caldwells decision making.

Tackles are one of the more overrated stats in football, Pat Angerer of the Indianapolis Colts is also a "tackle machine", those tackles usually occur 5-7 yards downfield. The Jaguars (besides Jonathan Cyrpien) have no playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, Poz is a vastly overpaid for what he brings to this team, as a matter fact, his contract compares to Daryl Washington, Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman etc..

Well if you want to go back to the 2010 defense with Durant and company then be my guest, Poz is under appreciated here.

He's not underappreciated, he's simply overpaid. There's no reason to pay linebacker $40M unless he's possesses special abilities, and Poz doesn't. He's 4-3 tackling machine and that's it, you can find those guys through the draft or at a more reasonable price in FA.

are we hurting for cap? no
all you guys complaining about his salary.... smh

we have plenty of cap room to honor his contract

he is the 7th highest paid ILB... im fine with that. we have to overpay to get anybody to play here. how has poz underperformed? the guy is a leader and plays physical every snap.

what do you people think we are going to do when we cut him? are we going to break the bank and sign a huge FA to replace him? i doubt it

I hope you're not financially responsible for any organizations because that organization would go bankrupt. Frivolously spending money because one has it is a recipe for financial disaster. Your argument is nonsensical; MJD’s contract is up after his season should we overpay him too? After all the Jaguars have plenty of money. I think everyone is in agreement that Poz is a solid player, but he’s being paid like a great player, and he’s not that.

I expect the front office to address this issue in the offseason via a pay cut or flat out release, there is no doubt the Jaguars can find an effective cheaper option in the draft of FA.

wrong, there is doubt that they can find a better option. but the team can still draft a future replacement. i dont know why you think the two options are mutually exclusive. keep Poz, draft a replacement. we aren't hurting for cap that we need to pinch pennies.

I dont run the organization, and neither do you. so stop crying like a little baby about the guy gettin paid. i dont think everybody deserves the money he makes, but we have plenty of room for a player like him. you thinking that we are close to bankruptcy over 7 mil is just stupid.

he is a good player. how has he underperformed? he has played up to the level of his contract. Name a guy who plays harder on our team.... and you want to complain about his contract?

Marcedes? yes cut him or whatever. Poz? No! i have his back because he gives everything on the field.

how is saying "hey the guy is good, let him get paid" a nonsensical argument? it is really simple. he is one of the few guys worth paying around here. good leader, good player, what more do you want?
