Henne fails in so many areas where Allen is just better. The only knock right now on Allen are those INTs, but I see him improving quickly if he were to actually get real reps. The first two INTs were on him, but both would have often landed incomplete as it took an outstanding effort on the part of the DBs to come up with them.

The thing is, the offense moves well when he's in there. You just can't say the same about Henne. Besides, Allen offers hope for the future, a future where Henne is retired. Why not open up that roster spot? The Jaguars can most definitely utilize the spot with someone who offers more to the team than Henne.

All of these comparisons you are making are comparing Henne's work against starting defenses, to Allen's work against scrubs.

Let's not lose sight of that.  Allen threw two picks that were absolutely his fault against Atlanta's camp fodder.

I would absolutely not be opposed if they rolled the dice on Allen as the back-up. But -   the kid has a lot of work to do yet and has never really been thrown into the fire.  He might not do anything better than Henne in a regular season game against a starting NFL defense.  We can only speculate at this point.
I believe the franchise QB is not on this roster. Trade or draft is about the only option for the Jaguars. Allen proved he is not the guy. He made two very poor decsions. Threw into double coverage in the back of the endzone against a taller CB. The other int was just a bad pass. Good Athlete that I would love to see develop some more.
I really think Allen's only issue is lack of game reps. All qbs need to play to get the feel for the game and to figure out how to not throw INTs like that. He needs actual game reps, and he'll never get any playing 3rd string.

This is the standard response to every borderline talent to hit the NFL. They need more reps! While it is true that everyone needs more reps at QB,  due to the numbers game that is impossible. An unheralded player in college has to do the most with every single play, and if they fail so be it. There have been countless players who would have been great "if only they had more playing time".

It's the pickup line for every failed QB who ever took an NFL snap. "I could have been a starter..but wasn't given a chance.."
Most of the time it's a fantasy, they did not get the snaps because they showed little in practice to deserve the snaps.
Allen is a nobody, and will always be a nobody in the world of big league players. Henne was once briefly a somebody, and has the intelligence
and experience to be the number 2. That is the way it stands until the bortles experiment is concluded.

I don't care what Henne might have once been. Right now Allen is flat out better than him.
You know...

We can get Brock really cheap right now now. I realize he sucks and is for sure worse than Blake, but he's much better than Chad. Maybe we should get Brock and have a real qb competition between Branden and Brock.
I will blow chunks out of blow ends if we sign Brock. Jesus no
