Quote:Yes it does. The senatorial component of the tabulation is how u get to 538 instead of 436.

Not to mention the fact that contrary to popular belief, our system of government is not a democracy.
Quote:16 years later, there are still a few voices (on the left) bemoaning the electoral college (when they loose, even though they have the biggest natural advantage!!!) There is even a rumor going around that Hillary Clinton Won the popular vote.  That's not true.  No one won the popular vote.  The presidency is determined by a majority, not a plurality.  So if you really want elections like the one we just had to wind up in the House of Representatives, then more power to you, but we would still be looking at a President Trump.
Donald Trump is on the left?
Quote:Donald Trump is on the left?

He was.
Quote:Not to mention the fact that contrary to popular belief, our system of government is not a democracy.

I believe the term is Representative republic

Correct.

A true democracy would have NY and California essentially deciding every election.
Quote:I believe the term is Representative republic
Constitutional republic with a representative democracy.
Quote:He was.
So is what he said irrelevant?

Everything the Left says is irrelevant.

Regarding the EC? Maybe, I don't pretend to know.

Our government is a democracy, but not a pure democracy.
Quote:Everything the Left says is irrelevant.

Nothing the left says is irrelevant. This is another perfect example of what I have been criticizing forum members for: calling every single Democrat an idiot just for being a Democrat. There is no reason to say that crap if you have a brain because no smart person would seriously believe just having a different opinion makes someone stupid or that an entire group of people with a shared opinion is stupid.

Until every single Republican on this forum stops doing this permanently, I have no reason to post in the politics section again. Let me know when you have enough brains to understand this concept.

And people wonder why there is a divide in this country.

Quote:On a side note, one of the great things about living in Florida is that your vote actually matters and can change an entire election by itself really. I know a few Republicans in California and it's gotta wear on you eventually that your vote doesn't even matter.

Especially when California doesnt even count your ballot.

Constitutional republic with a representative democracy.

I thought it was a Constitutional Republic?

Yes, I was using the informal, hence the lower case.

I think we can all agree American is a pretty cool place. I think we need a cooler name for our type of government. Something that has the same ring as Ochlocracy but without all the mobs.
