Quote:LOL Learn to read. I criticized people for thinking simply being a Democrat makes someone else stupid, or that all donkeys are idiots just because they are donkeys. That is not about me personally. So no, it is not the same thing.

So now you're telling us you love donkeys? Interesting....

Quote:Our Founding Fathers put the Electoral College in place for a reason. It helps keep us a democratic nation instead becoming an aristocratic nation.

One theory as to why the Founding Fathers put the Electoral College in place was to protect slave states. Slaves couldn't vote, but they were counted as 3/5 of a person when determining the population upon which the amount of electoral votes a state casts is based. It's no coincidence 8 of our first 9 presidential elections were won by Virginians.

Exactly backwards, slave states wanted slaves counted equally with free persons for delegates to Congress. The Compromise prevented them from donimating the Legislature.

Yes, and the number of electors per state is calculated by adding the number of senators (2) to the number of representatives each state sends to Congress. When electing the President, the southern states had a disproportionate amount of electors per registered voter. Property essentially meant more votes.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That's what gets us in trouble every time!!

<p style="font-family:inherit;">If the election were based on total popular vote I would have campaigned in NY, Florida and California and won even bigger and more easily!
