The crescent moon AND STAR was a symbol of old Byzantium who were then conquered by the Ottomans. The Ottoman Empire chose to represent themselves with said Crescent Moon AND STAR. But not all Muslims are Turkish and certainly not every Muslim nation bears the crescent moon and star so it is rather confusing when you say yellow crescent with no mention of the star in reference to Islam.


Symbolism of Islam is its elaborate calligraphy for the word Allah.
